We are a couple who live and work in Rethymno, where we enjoy strolling about and discovering new things with our toddler daughter. We love traveling, photography, art, everything hand- made, nice food, films and anything that has to do with nature. We are excited about meeting people from around the globe and sharing traveling experiences with them!

Casa Spanos was built in 2020 on the top of a hill with breathtaking, panoramic views of the sea, the mountains and the cape, overlooking the northern coastal line of Crete. The house is stone-built and is situated in an area of 6000 km2 in a natural rocky environment, amongst sage and lentisk bushes, oak and carob trees as well as a huge variety of aromatic and medicinal plants. At the same time, it is located very near lovely beaches and countryside paths, the traditional village of Prines, the picturesque town of Rethymno and Chania International Airport. Our goal was to build a clean-cut but also contemporary and elegant residence with natural materials, which respect the natural landscape and the traditional architecture as much as the needs of a modern home. The warm interior combines the aesthetics of our local and family traditions with world elements and objects that we have selected from our travels. We wish for our guests to feel comfortable and at home while at the same time have the chance to experience first-hand the history and natural environment of the area. Our favourite time of the day is early evening, when you can enjoy spectacular sunset views.

The house is located at a secluded spot with unique views, just 1,4km away from the traditional village of Prines. It is also very near the northern beaches of Rethymno (2,5km), and the town of Rethymno (8 km). Chania International Airport is at about 60km away and Heraklion International Airport is at 90 km away. At the nearby villages of Prines, Atsipopoulo and Gerani you can find lots of supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, taverns, traditional cafés as well as gyms, playgrounds etc. For a bustling market atmosphere, you can visit the town-centre of Rethymno, where you can find all sorts of shops and products. There is also a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, traditional eateries and bars for all tastes. We´d be more than happy to recommend some of our favourite ones! In Rethymno, there are also many interesting museums and cultural spaces. You shouldn´t miss visiting the iconic Venetian castle of ´Fortezza´, the Archaeological Museum, the Historical and Folklore Museum, as well as the only Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete. They are all located at the old town, alongside more spots of historical and cultural interest.
