Villa Demetra is a traditional stone villa set in a tranquil private area. The villa is has two bedrooms with ensuite baths. Both bedrooms have their own private verandas. The villa is situated where every outdoor space have amazing views of Skala and out to the Ionian Sea, Zante and mainland Greece. There is a saltwater pool (heated in April, May & October). The villa has it's own water supply, new great-room furniture and blazing fast Starlink internet. There is a large smart TV connected to the villa's WiFi. All new air conditioners have been installed in every room. Private parking, nothing is shared. Your holiday will be as private as you like. We also offer reduced rate airport pickup (much less than a taxi) and can have a rental car available to you at the villa.

Our family is from Kefalonia, one of the original families of the island. The villas are under the name Leondios Villas. Leondios was our grandfather’s nickname that morphed into our “parachoukli” which translates to family nickname (not surname). Every Kefalonian family has a “parachoukli”. Our grandfather was from Kornelos, a village in the hills above Skala. He was an entrepreneur who sold and bartered olive oil, raisins and wine. He farmed land on the hills above and north of Skala. Our parents were born and raised on Kefalonia, they endured the horrors of the WW2 occupation, Greek civil war and the 1953 earthquake. Because of the earthquake, they emigrated to the United States. They returned much later in life to enjoy what modern Kefalonia has to offer. They instilled “philotimo” a word that has no direct English word, but a simple translation of “honor your friend”. The Atherina neighborhood of Old Skala consists of only 6 villas and is the lowest elevation and easiest to get to. Great views in a garden like atmosphere with the ringing of goat bells throughout the day and the occasional cal out of the neighborhood donkey. It is only 4 minutes by car to the beach, 3 minutes to the pedestrian street, restaurants and shops. The walk down is easy but we do recommend a car in the heat of the summer to get back to the villa. Above the villa in the Old Skala neighborhoods high above there are many marked hiking trails for the avid rambler.
