The city of Labin and Rabac are two adjacent settlements functioning as a small urban unit. Four large supermarkets, bakeries and several small shops can be found in the lower city of Labin, on the way to beaches. Many restaurants and bars can be also found in Labin and Rabac. Labin, a picturesque old town is situated on the hill above Rabac. Its Roman name of Albona was first mentioned in 285 AD but used to be inhabited as early as 2000 BC. The Municipal Loggia, built in 1550 as a community centre, is extremely well preserved and worth a look. Your attention will be drawn by the main town door of St. Flor dating from 1589 with Labin coat of arms and the Serenissima lion above, palaces, mediaeval fortifications with Renaissance bastion, and the 17th century church tower – the highest point from which one can see Rabac and Kvarner bay. Many beautiful pebble beaches, white stone and the scenic sea views in Rabac will leave no one indifferent.
