You will find our small-scale B&B on the edge of the village of Tiszabábolna. From the terrace you look out on the garden that turns into the fields of sunflowers or corn with the Matra Mountains in the background. You enjoy the peace and the many birds that visit the garden every day. Wake up rested to the sound of the Wielewaal and then enjoy a delicious breakfast on the outside terrace with a view of the garden. The garden offers plenty of places to sit, both in the sun and in the shade. In the evening you can regularly see a beautiful sunset. If it does cool down a bit in the evening, you can choose to stay in the common room. In this space are games, nature books, free coffee or tea, and a refrigerator. Wifi is free and works well. In short, Herberg Tisza is a place where you can relax and enjoy life as we think it is meant to be.

After years of working in education, we have taken the step to start a Bed and Breakfast. The untouched nature, the nice population and the beautiful location of the Inn made us decide to emigrate to Hungary in 2019 to make our dream come true. As a nature lover, I, Roel, have been involved in everything that grows and flowers all my life. The birds have my greatest interest and in the Netherlands I have been active as a counter at SOVON for years. I would like to take you on a birdwatching trip, a beautiful walk through nature, where I will show and hear dozens of birds, including very special ones. Tiszabábolna is a lovely village at 150 km. east of Budapest. It is located in the middle of nature, bordering the Kleine Hortobágy. Birds, butterflies, insects, roe deer, foxes, frogs, toads, snakes ... you can encounter it all on a morning walk. The village itself has two small shops for groceries. A restaurant opens its doors during the holiday season. Within walking distance there is a harbor where you can rent a boat to go up the river Tisza towards Lake Tisza. There is also a beach, playground equipment and safe swimming. It is wonderful cycling and walking in the area. The Grote Hortobágy is easily accessible by car and there is plenty to do here. (including horse show, bird shelter, covered wagon ride, market) Many people love to enjoy one of the many thermal baths in the area. There are several larger places nearby. Eger, known for its wines, is very worthwhile. Eating out in Hungary is not expensive and there are several good restaurants in the area. In short, plenty to experience from the Inn. Nature and tranquility are paramount, but also plenty to do and discover if you want to.
