I share time between our home in California and Umbria, Italy with my husband, Greg. I love living in the Umbrian Countryside. The landscape and views are stunning. I enjoy living like a local here outside the medieval village of Monteleone d'Orvieto. The lifestyle is authentic and the food and wine is second to none. Podere Vigliano, nestled half way between Florence and Rome, is situated on 10 acres in the Umbrian countryside. Umbria, with its lush rolling hills, is known as "the green heart of Italy." Visits to the medieval hill towns of Umbria and Tuscany are easy day trips from Podere Vigliano, as we are just minutes from the A-1 autostrada and from the main train station in Chiusi. The famous towns of Orvieto, Siena, Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Deruta, Montepulciano, and Cortona are all within an hour's drive. You may also take the train for easy access to Florence and Rome, arriving there in a little over an hour. Etruscan tombs, hot springs, Roman ruins, exquisite renaissance art, and the Duomo of Orvieto are just a few of the region's historical features awaiting your stay. Local activities include horseback riding, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, cycling, vespa rentals, truffle hunting, cooking classes, wine tasting and tours.
