Le Gîte Bassatine was created with the purpose of hosting parents of young French people welcomed by families in the village of Boumehchad, which lasted four years (2005 to 2008) as part of charitable activities between the Moroccan association El Nahda and the French association Renaitre France. This operation was launched with the objective of social reintegration of young people. Indeed, humanitarian and solidarity actions emerged between the Province of Skoura and the Aquitaine Region. Today, Les Bassatine has become an educational center that continues its sociocultural initiatives. Among other things, numerous events have taken place at the lodge:
From March 24 to 31, 2016: Hosting of the Breton Dance Initiative for its cultural authenticity, to merge with the folklore of the Skoura palm grove. During the 1st edition of the Cultural Festival under the theme "All to save the oasis heritage"
On May 7, 2016: Gîte Bassatine opened its doors to preschoolers from different nurseries in the Skoura Palm Grove. A morning rich in educational leisure activities and environmental awareness.

Skoura (Arabic: سكورة; Amazigh: Askourn; Tifinagh: ⴰⵙⴽⵓⵔⵏ) is an important palm grove covering 25 km², located 40 km from Ouarzazate in Southern Morocco. It is one of the few palm groves in the country that is still inhabited and cultivated. It has approximately thirty thousand inhabitants and one hundred and thirty-eight thousand palm trees.
