Since 1998 we live in Loenen aan de Vecht, a very friendly and charming village along the river the Vecht. In my spare time you can find me running or walking along the river or swimming in the river in the early morning. It the combination of living on the country side and being so near to Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam that makes this place so attractive for me. You get the best of two worlds here!

The beautiful village is well known for its restaurants. Two have a Michelin star, Tante Koosje and Het Amsterdammertje. There is also an excellent take a way De Proeverij. And you can get good bistro food at De Koetsier or Bardeaux and fish and chips at Hans & Frietje. Around the village and alongside the river you will find beautiful and huge summerhouses of the 17th century. They were build during the golden century by the rich inhabitants of Amsterdam who left Amsterdam in the summertime because the canals became to smelly. Nowadays the river is very clean and in the summertime you can take a swim. Next to the windmill (60 meters from the house) is a staircase to the water. Or you rent a boat nearby and experience beautiful views from a boat. On walking distance you'll find a grocery store, the amazing bakery, Chris, with fresh bread, the take away Marche and on Tuesday a little charming market. There is public transport (bus 120) to the subway to Amsterdam Central Station and the Railway station to Breukelen. From Breukelen you can get easily to f.ex. Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam.
