Ashcott Homestead is a Heritage NZ listed building which started life in the 1850's, built by settlers from Ashcott in Somerset, UK. This unique homestead has been extensively renovated whilst retaining the character features from the Victorian era. We welcome visitors to share the history and ambience of our home where you can relax in the peaceful Central Hawkes Bay, North Island location. You can stroll around our 9 acres, watch the animals, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the country. We have three modern BnB rooms and one family room, which is only available when purchased with a main bedroom. This family room is for family members or extra guests in your group and shares your private bathroom. All the bedrooms are up the grand staircase. Each bedroom has a private bathroom, being an older homestead there are NO ensuites. The Sunrise bathroom is down a further 3 stairs from the bedroom. The Bayly bathroom is back up the 3 stairs and then down 2 more stairs off the guest lounge. The A'Deane bathroom is back up the 3 stairs stairs and down the hallway. Each bedroom has bathrobes for use. There is a small shared lounge upstairs for guests to use, with a couch, table and chairs, a fridge, microwave, electric jug, toaster, crockery and cutlery, and various types of drinks from coffee pods, to herbal and normal teas. Downstairs guest are welcome to relax in the formal sitting room or the formal dining room. There is a lovely veranda outside to rest and relax with tables, chairs and couches. The library is full of books and games to enjoy during your stay.
We have been the owners of Ashcott Homestead for 3 1/2years. We are animal lovers so we are a dog-friendly BnB upon request. We have two dogs called Sasha and Sebastion, who will loudly announce your arrival but are very friendly. John is relieving teacher in Primary Schools; Giovanni was a retail manager and is home most days to run the homestead, and look after our boys. We come from the sunny north to the beautiful Hawkes Bay to further our love of meeting people, sharing our home and living in the country. We have always had people living with us, find hosting people in our home is satisfying and rewarding. We look forward to meeting you.
We are a county BnB, 1 hour from Napier, and 50 minutes from Hastings on Highway 50. Our nearest town east is Waipukurau 20 minutes away. We are 25 minutes north of Danniverke. Central Hawkes Bay, North Island is a beautiful region with rolling hills, world renowned trout fishing and hiking/tramping in the Ruahine Ranges. There are antique shops, several golf courses, highly regarded wineries and historic homesteads to explore. Cycling is a popular activity and of course spending time at cafes and farmers markets is always an option. The art deco city of Napier is only 60 minutes drive, whilst Havelock North and Hastings are only 50 minutes. Heading south, Wellington is 3 hours drive via the Saddle Road or Palmerston North.
