Company information

We were not born here, but have decided to move here with our whole family after falling in love with the farm and the north of Portugal. We are from South Africa and speak English, Afrikaans and we are learning Portuguese. We love to travel and spend time with our children. This move is a complete change of lifestyle in order to have more time with our family. The guesthouse is small and we love to make our guests feel comfortable, and at home while we try to also give them our personal attention without intruding in their space.

Paco de Pombeiro is a special place, it has captured our hearts with its beauty and tranquility. It offers so much, as its proximity to many wonderful and unique sites makes it ideal as a base from which to do day trips. For those who need to just relax, it offers just that. Our breakfasts are included and hearty with fresh products and the farm is big with many walks around it.

Neighbourhood information

The area is truly unique as this particular place has so much to offer. The people of the village are welcoming and friendly and we have had evenings where we have impromptu dinners where we, together with our neighbours, cook dinner for all our guests, sometimes with more than 7 languages between us from 3 different continents. This spontaneity gives everyone something unique to remember. Once a year the village has a "party" in mid-July where everyone who makes something they can sell, puts up a stall in our street and bands play all day long. It is colourful, festive and extremely enjoyable the "Ha festa Na Aldeia". There are many excellent restaurants and many places to visit nearby. We are only 800 metres from the Monastery of Saint Mary of Pombeiro and a 10 minute walk from a beautiful roman bridge. The views from 6 of our rooms are of our vineyards, the farm and the village is rich in history and traditions.
