🏡 Casa Florica, located in the heart of the village, is a log house, over 120 years old, restored/renovated, one of the oldest wooden houses left in the village.  The property has 1200 square meters and consists of: yard, house, burn with shed and orchard. The rooms are renovated and arraged traditionally and authentically. It has capacity for four people, being equipped with 2 separated rooms, both rooms with comfortable double beds , near, kitchen with bread oven, filigree and bathroom. The two Bedrooms are accessed from the porch, while the kitchen and bathroom are accesed from the yard, as is tipycal for a traditional rural house.  The large yard has parking spaces, sturdy wooden swings, a hammock, and a barbecue area.  Although located in the middle of the village, the house is set back 25 m The two Bedrooms are accessed from the porch, while the kitchen and bathroom are accesed from the yard, as is tipycal for a traditional rural house. the road towards the foot of the mountain, offering a unique view from the yard. In the shed is a ping-pong table and behind the shed the beautiful orchard with fruit trees stretches all the way to the bottom of the mountain. 😊 Maria Tristiu is a cheerful and welcoming host, passionate about preparing traditional products, traditional costumes tailored, to weave kilims whit her loom and floral arrangements.

🌲 Enclosed by mountains and woods, (altitude 554 m), Gura Râului is idyllically situated at the upper Cibin river, with its imposing reservoir dam (73.5 m high). Located in only 19 km distance from the historic old town of Sibiu, it is one of the most traditional places in the region, with the structure of an original Romanian village. It is the wonderful place where the fir forest starts from the heart of the commune and it bears this name because the hearth of the village is right at the exit of the Cibin river from the mountains:” The mouth of the river” The river and resulting trade brought wealth - still visible today by neat, picturesque courts and front gardens. On Sun- and Holidays the villager proudly wear their traditional costumes, passed down generations. This conscioussness of tradition grants this place its distinctive character.  At the foot of Cindrel and Frumoasa you can visit the "Cindrel Natural Park", the two crystalline glacial lakes Iezerul Mare and Iezerul Mic being hidden like pearls surrounded by mountain peonies, in two romantic valleys at the foot of Cindrel and Frumoasa.   We propose a trip with a cart through the village and its surroundings: you will meet old churches, well-kept houses with wooden gates, shrines, the covered wooden bridge, the over 500-year-old fir tree (a natural monument, it is said that it takes 8 people to hug it), the imposing storage dam guarded by mountain peaks  "to Pisc" - where the Big River and the Small River meet, and if you continue your journey along the Big River, crossing Cheile Cibinului, you will reach the Paltinis resorts.  In the first weekend of July, the people and the "Mountain Peony Festival" will give you an encounter with tradition,folk songs and dances start, where you have the opportunity to taste the traditional dishes prepared by the villagers: cocolos with bellows cheese, mutton stew, veal cauldron, bread baked on the hearth "You should see it sometime Gura Raului!" - Lucian Blaga
