The Sterling Inn is operated by Eric, a retired engineer and college professor, and his adult son, Zachary. Both can fill you in about the history of the Inn, and will make every effort to make your stay both comfortable and memorable.

Built in 1816 as a stagecoach stop. the Sterling Inn in Caratunk was the first bar, dance hall, and post office in the area. Today it’s the perfect New England lodging choice for families or large groups with its warm cozy atmosphere, hardwood floors, and large gathering room with a wood stove. Renovated in 2016 and 2017, The Sterling Inn has 15 charming bedrooms that feel just like home and also 2 large living areas and a larger wrap-around porch. [Note: all guest rooms are on the second floor; the cross-corridor includes two grade-changes with steps. Six bathrooms are each private, but not en-suite]. The Upper Kennebec Valley is home to a wide variety of outdoor activities year round.
