Very good location, great staff (answered my 100 messages not only about accomodation but Kumano Kodo in general), good atmosphere, old japanese onsen just around the corner, but no need to use it as this place has their own private onsens! Really recommend ❤️

We stayed 2 nights at Guesthouse Takiyoshi but wished we stayed longer. The hosts are a hardworking young family and will help you in any way possible to make sure you enjoy your stay. The room we stayed in was a traditional japanese room and very clean. Though there are shared facilities (including the traditional onsen), it was always kept clean and there were more than enough facilities for everyone (we stayed on a night it was full but never had to wait and it always felt clean). The meals are traditional, fresh and extremely tasty... the hosts know how to cook up a storm and you won't be hungry! We'd highly recommend Guesthouse Takiyoshi if you're looking to stay in Yunomine.

Absolutely amazing onsen hotel, great location, friendly staff, we also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner so much that we ordered it again. Same with the traditional breakfast. It doesn't get any more authentically Japanese than this, anywhere you go, quintessentially Japanese!

Great place to stay if you’re hiking or traveling around the area. The host was super friendly, the and the room and sheets were clean. We also dug our own onsen in the river just outside - but there’s also a public outdoor onsen by the river as well as an indoor one in the minshuku. I also learned that “Minshuku” refers to a type of traditional, family-run guesthouse or lodging. Staying at a minshuku typically involves a more personal and homely experience, with the hosts often preparing homemade meals (usually Japanese-style), and the atmosphere is usually casual and friendly - I think it was all those things.

Wonderful "old world charm" hotel with private onsen indoors & a hot springs river flowing outside! Much appreciated after a day of walking the Kodo trail. Dinner & breakfast very good. Bus stop outside the door. Staff extremely helpful & friendly. A delightful origami gift from the owners beautiful little daughter ❤️

This hostel is perfectly located a few steps from the entrance to the Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine for those walking the Kumano Kodo. The bus stop is also just across the road making it easy to explore and experience the local area and onsen. The owners also run a fantastic cafe across the road and provided food for breakfast on check-in. Our traditional private room was very comfortable and the common areas and facilities were comfortable, homely and clean. We would definitely stay again.

They showed care and thoughtfulness by looking for us when we checked in 2 hours late and offered us cup noodles for dinner. The next day we were late for bus going to Hosshinmon-oji and the owner was so nice driving us to Kumano Hongu Taisha catching the bus, and showed us the points of interest on the way. He is considerate, compassionate, kind and does extra miles caring about his guests. The business runs only 1 month, it is fresh and clean. Greatly recommend staying in this new establishment!!

Location is perfect, you are couple of minutes away from the Kumano Hongu Taisha, the bus station and information center. The common areas are really spacious, so even if the accommodation is full it won't feel crowded. Free snacks, and you get also some bread, PB and J, and a banana for breakfast!

Breakfast was Sufficient with good choices of beverages. Good vibes and connected with many travelers. Just 3-4 min walk from bus station, Kumano Hongu Taisha, Tourist Info Center, about 5 min to eateries, grocery store, bakery. Owner is professional hiker (Kumano Experience) and was happy to share info.

I had a great time in this hostel, very well located near Kumano Hongu Taisha. There's free snacks for breakfast, evening or to eat while hiking. The people I met on the Kumano Kodo were very nice.

Nice hostel in a beautiful green region. Very close to Kumano Hongu Taisha. The communal area is very cosy, homely and they offer a huge selection of cookies and sweets for free. Also free coffee, thee, cornflakes available. We enjoyed our stay here a lot
