We loved our stay at the Mer.Chant. The flawlessly designed hotel is built around an old market place and staff is happy to tell visitors about the history of the place. Everyone was very welcoming, our room was beautiful and the food delicious. We will definitely miss the coconut water and local fruit for breakfast just as much as hopper night on Wednesday!

Absolutely everything! First up, the ambience! It has a unique aesthetic - very artistic. The puppets add a unique look and feel. They’ve designed and decorated the place very artistically. The rooms like something out of a fantasy - they look like rooms from a dollhouse! Very unique. Staying here was an experience in itself. Not to be missed if one is ever in Galle, Sri Lanka. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. You get service with a smile! The staff makes sure that your stay is comfortable. Dimutu, the manager, even offered us a packed breakfast on the day we were to check out early. The kitchen is an open kitchen where one can see the meals being prepared. There is a water dispenser outside the rooms for the guests to use.

Lovely but quite a touristy trap.

Lovely but quite a touristy trap. The exorbitantly priced food was what I was aghast about. About 5 to 10 times more expensive than most restaurants and eateries elsewhere in Sri Lanka. Also, most eateries were not as clean as in the rest of SL. The town is great to walk through but lack of fairly priced eateries with good food is a clear deterrant.

Right in the midst of Galle Fort and very clean and comfortable. The hotel breakfast is traditional Sri Lankan food. It was delicious and the staff were very helpful with explaining how to eat it. The staff were all lovely and also helped with day planning and recommendations.

This is a beautiful hotel with 2 gorgeous pools and direct beach access (with turtles!). The staff are exceptional and knew what I needed before even I did! It is easy to access Galle Fort by car/tuktuk and there are shops/restaurants around the hotel too. The hotel bars and restaurants are high quality. The rooms are perfect, great showers, comfy beds and see views! The rooftop gym has amazing views and is a must visit! A true 5 star experience.

Dam , the host is very helpful and hospitable.He gave information on sightseeing at the Galle Fort.He transpoted us to and from the railway station and to the Galle Fort free of charge.He even accompanied us to shop for food during our late arrival from the train station. The apartment is by far the best lodging we have at Sri Lanka.It's spacious with cooking facilities. I really recommed to stay at Dam's place if you are at Galle.

Beautiful small hotel- amazing pool. Extremely friendly owner and his family and staff run it. Go out of their way to help with anything you want to do during your stay. Great recommendations for restaurants and activities. Boutique hotel at great price. By far the nicest place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka and we’ve been staying in meddle to top end places. Highly highly recommend. 5 min tuk tuk into Galle Fort.

The staff was welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The hotel is located in a prime spot—just a short walk from the Galle Clock Tower, popular restaurants, museums, the lighthouse, and even bathing spots. Galle Fort is a stunning location in Sri Lanka, and staying here gave us easy access to everything it has to offer. Breakfast was a simple yet satisfying English breakfast, served with a fresh fruit platter and coffee. And all of this came at a very reasonable rate. Until we meet again, Thank you, Sunset Fort Galle!

Really stunning property in Galle Fort - maybe the fanciest place I've stayed in Sri Lanka, it felt like a 5-star hotel. Clean, modern, comfortable room with really nice furnishings. The rooms look out over a beautiful garden/courtyard. The breakfast was also delicious! This place is on the pricier side but definitely worth it.

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at! Wonderful staff, stunning property and beautiful clean rooms - we stayed in one of the villas as a family of 4 and were so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, esp the Sri Lankan one. Less than 10 min drive to Galle Fort and we also enjoyed going to the Turtle Sanctuary nearby. We loved our stay so much we went back for another night at the end of our trip. Will be recommending to anyone we know going to Sri Lanka.
