The View is the best! Night and day! We just couldn't get enough! The hotel has many facilities (it's also a spa after all). Beds were comfy, shower also nice. Breakfast was pretty good to start the day. The path going down to Curral das Freiras looks challenging, but it's entertaining and very much worth it (and back!).

I was lucky to find one last room for 2 nights (even when booking two months in advance!) – we would have gladly stayed longer! A magical place – just about 15 minutes by car from Funchal, but the change of scenery is incredible! The hotel looks majestic, surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, and the evening mist adds a mysterious touch. The Monte Palace is right at the foot of the famous Monte Palace– it almost feels like the hotel is part of it! Our room was very nice (though the bathroom could use a bit of modernizing), and everything was spotless. Breakfast was very good – not a huge selection, but it was absolutely fine! The welcome glass of champagne at the bar was a lovely detail. The style and decor throughout the common areas of the hotel were also exceptional! Out of the 4 hotels we stayed at on the island, this one was our favorite – it’s the one I’ll be recommending to my friends and family!
