All of the amenities were new or great condition. The bedroom had all we needed and the shared bathroom spaces were modern and very clean.

Comfortable and spacious room. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful! It was a great experience! Close to great wineries, breweries and beaches.

A little piece of heaven. After a month travelling it was just what i needed. Cosy cottage was quiet and had a deck where i could do my yoga in private. The bed was so comfortable I slept like a baby for 3 nights. The kitchen was basic but enough to cook a simple meal. A hot shower and clean bathroom. Rested ready for my next bit of travel.

The photos don’t quite do the room justice — it’s actually much more spacious in person. We really enjoyed the peace and greenery. The host was super friendly and even went bush to help us retrieve a lost drone!

We booked large room and had fully equipped kitchen which was important for us. The room was very comfortable and spacious.

The apartment located away from the main house is beautifully decorated. It is a dream location and just 5 minutes drive away from Whitianga. The hosts were very nice and very discreet. We enjoyed the quietness and the beauty of the place. The 3 days that we spent there were a dream part of our vacation

Just an incredible place - 'cabin' is understating it. The views across to Auckalnd and Rangitoto alone are worth the price, but it's the little touches that make this place special: all the fittings are metal where possible, the finishing is exceptional, and the wine is from across the road. It gave our stay a feeling of luxury and care that was beyond the price. It was also probably the best bed we've ever had - it shaped itself to us in a way neither of us had experienced before.

Tongariro Crossing Lodge se nachází v klidném prostředí s velkým upraveným pozemkem a malebnou zahradní terasou s výhledem na hory. Nabízí jedinečně prostorné pokoje s historickým charakterem. Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

I wished, we could have stayed longer for relaxing and exploring this rural area. Sue and David are wonderful attentive and communicative hosts speaking reliable German and French. They made their house our home for 1 night. An amazing breakfast was served in the morning. Should we ever be crazy enough to fly more than 20.000 km to get here we definetely will check in again at the Mairenui Rural Retreat. Thanks you very much. Gregor and Johanna
