Absolutely brilliant hosts, brilliant food, lovely setting beside river, very comfortable room, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We loved it. The Sunday roast was amazing, the beef just melted when you cut it. Breakfast was a feast of Scottish flavours. The whole ambience was just superb. Lovely welcome basket gift on arrival. The house was warm and light on arrival, beautiful cosy home. The town is a short 5 min walk or you have nearby shops for any groceries needed.

The owner, Kate, was absolutely lovely and made my stay perfect. The breakfasts had so much choice and Kate provided me with Oatmilk for my coffee. The Scottish smoked salmon with scrambled egg was excellent. Room had everything you could need and all clean. Easy free car parking right outside.

Location was a bit remote but in lovely countryside, not far from the bay. We loved the room. It was big and comfortable with a small sitting area off the bedroom. Bath was lovely and well appointed and up do date technology. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent. Breakfast was good too. Close to Castle Douglas and lovely gardens near the castle. We would recommend this hotel

A superb location, old world charming, but not stuffy. The food was excellent, the staff extremely friendly and competent. I would certainly go back.

Fantastic holiday cottage just as shown in publicity photographs. V peaceful, very clean and comfortable. Amazing space. Confusion over collecting keys was my mistake so do read joining instructions. The porch was large enough to store two bicycles. Private sitting out area at the back. We could not fault the accommodation. Guest book entries said it all-everyone was full of praise for Carty Cottage and its handy location close to Newton Stewart and A75 for visiting a much over-looked part of Scotland which has so much to offer. We used the cottage as a base to explore the area on our bicycles and it was cycling-heaven: cycle path from Wigton to Newton Stewart can be accessed a short distance from the foot of the driveway, lots of quiet roads (on some routes you might see 1-2 cars an hour if you are unlucky), few potholes, good choice of flattish rides and more challenging hilly routes, most roads are well surfaced with stunning views along the coast or inland to the hills. It helped to have a car to reach different parts of the coast. We were v fortunate with the weather and managed rides every day. It was such a joy to return each evening to Carty Cottage and relax and recharge our batteries (and those of our electric bikes), make use of the lovely facilities and prepare for another day of cycle exploration. Do not hesitate to book if you can for you will not be disappointed.
