We had a relaxing two days in nature at the homespun Glimra eco lodge on our way to Uda Walawe safari park. It was great to meet and chat to our helpful and attentive hosts Roshani and Nishanka, who are at the beginning of their journey making a larger lodging ground, and it was special to stay in their first house made by Nishanka himself. We enjoyed our afternoon canoe ride by a local fisherman, and spotting birds and animals by the lake

The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

Amazing owner, family business with a lot of hapiness and amazing service. Safari they organise is top quality. Would recommend to eat in their restaurant, absolutely great (non spicy) Sri Lankan curries. There is an amazing home spa nearby, organized by locals, in case you arrive in the afternoon and want to relax right away. There is a printed paper in the room with their contact information. I would definitely recommend going as a couple (same time treatments possible).

My favourite stay in Sri Lanka. Sachi and Hansi were amazing hosts who always went the extra mile. The property is a beautiful, peaceful oasis in Udawalawa and the pool is great. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious!

The property is in a beautiful setting. The room was a good size with a lovely bathroom as well as a nice outside porch area to sit and watch the wildlife. Leel was super helpful and was there for every need. His family make good authentic Sri Lankan food (but can also tone down the spice level if needs like us!). Leel arranged a safari for us and we saw loads of wildlife, including lots of elephants.

This was fantastic accommodation. Run by Anju and his family. The photos don’t do it justice - it’s way nicer, more modern. The bed is comfortable, I loved the shower with skyview and the net in front of the cottage to relax. We also took the safari day trip arranged by Anju with safari guide Patum and it was just perfect. We got a lovely breakfast inside the park and in the afternoon also lunch. During the tour there was always cold water and we got coconut to drink. And we saw plenty of elephants, buffalos, lizzards, deers, two kinds of monkeys, birds and much more! In the end, Anju arranged taxi driver to our next destination. Totally recommended!!

Everything! Possibly the best customer service I’ve ever experienced- and I’ve travelled a lot. Everything was clean. Food was amazing - be sure to eat all meals here if you can. An outdoor shower was a real highlight too. The family could not do enough for us. They even came along on the safari tour with us in case the guide didn’t have good English. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
