Speaking of the Cuillin Hills feels like allowing longing to arrive before time itself, even though I left only moments ago. A place where refinement meets warmth, and the hotel feels unmistakably like home. The staff move almost invisibly, caring without being seen; breakfast is an act of quiet generosity; and the view, so perfect, seems as though it were drawn by the hands of God. Being there was a silent gift — one of those the world offers without announcement. And if one day I return to the Isle of Skye, it will be this hotel that my heart will remember first. Thank you very much.

As my first stop/stay on the isle of Skye, I couldn't ask for a better introduction to the island. While giving a tour of the property, Ludwig shared an amazingly in-depth geological and botanical profile of the island throughout its history, and the effect of human settlement throughout the ages. Through an in-person nature tour of the accessible sections of Rhuba Phoil upon checking in, I was able to experience first-hand many botanical species that I had never seen before anywhere, never mind in person. Ludwig patiently answered all of my questions, and I learned so much. Rhuba Phoil is botanically and geologically quite different from the rest of Skye, and forest structures that don't appear anywhere else on the island. If you have any interest in biological/geological history of Skye, uncommon botanical species/phenomena, unique biomes, the original inhabitants of the island, maintaining a permaculture community focusing on self sufficiency and living sustainably in harmony with the land, you will find this stay unforgettable. The cabin is compact, simple and cozy. Provided are many resources for nature walks, binoculars, a torch, freshly picked mint leaves for tea, a mini fridge, a map of Rhuba Phoil, and a description of various walks around the island (and much more). I really enjoyed flipping through the booklet (with photos) about medicinal and edible species of plants growing on Skye. Bathroom instructions and facilities were clearly indicated by Ludwig during the tour and also in the welcome binder. Everything is well described in the booking description. It's not a stay where you will be pampered in modern comforts; TV, room service, flush toilets, but that is part of the experience and I found it very valuable. I slept incredibly soundly in the complete silence of the property. If you like camping and waking up to nature right outside your door, you will love this stay.

We came in from the cold wet day to a wonderful warm cosy pod. It was exactly as in the description, but better . Alison had left us a very welcome « welcome pack » so we had all we needed on arrival. The pod was perfectly clean and as new. We had a great a great couple of days . I can strongly recommend the pods to anyone stopping on Skye

Completed secluded and yet just a quick drive into portree. Everything was well-thought-out and there was even a cat who welcomed us on our first day and then disappeared!
