We were in the Studio Executive and we had all the comfort we needed and more: make up remover, washing dryer + laundry detergent… It was spacious, clean, new and… perfect! It was a true pleasure to stay in at night just to enjoy our room. Plus, Barry and Donna were just exceptionally kind and welcoming. If you’re in Dunedin, Amross Motel is a must! Wanaka Luxury Apartments are situated only 600 metres from the shores of Lake Wanaka. The ski fields at Cardrona Alpine Resort and Treble Cone Ski Area are just 35 minutes’ drive away. Walking distance to town and the Lake, parking included, fully stocked kitchen though we didn’t really use it, washing machine especially came in handy halfway through our trip. Personal preference the couches weren’t super comfortable but overall was a lovely stay.

Archway Motels & Chalets offers quiet and secluded accommodation, only 200 metres from Lake Wanaka. Set on 2 acres of gardens featuring native trees, tulips, roses and fruit trees, the spacious grounds include a covered BBQ area with picnic tables.

The self-catering units with parking directly outside the front door. Each unit has a flat-screen satellite TV and a verandah with outdoor seating. Our room is large and clean. About a 10 minute walk to the town center. We had to change our itinerary because the road to Franz Josef was closed at Haast Pass due to slips and slumps. I was having trouble reaching our next hotel to let them know we would arrive a day late. Mark very kindly lent me his landline to use. Mark and Jacqui are wonderful hosts!
