Another rare and much-appreciated feature in Guatemala is the availability of hot water—a small luxury that makes a big difference. Lastly, everything is impeccably clean and well-maintained, showing the care and effort the owners put into every detail. I had a wonderful stay at Sunrise Lago Atitlán. The house is a true gem by the lake — simple, yet it has everything you need. There’s hot water in the bathroom, a fridge and stove in the kitchen, plus a coffee maker and, of course, coffee. The location is peaceful and perfect for nature lovers. The highlight of the house is definitely the balcony with a hammock, where you can relax and enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the lake. The host was incredibly kind and helpful — he even helped carry my luggage to the house. Sunrise Lago Atitlán is about a 5–10 minute walk from the San Pablo dock. It’s definitely easier if you’re traveling with a backpack rather than a suitcase, as the path isn’t ideal for wheeled luggage. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature!
