The room is extremely clean. Everything he gave us was fresh from his garden. We wish we spent more time there! Randy, the owner, took us on a tour (he gave us HIS motorbike to ride around and he was riding his bicycle) to see his garden and his village. We stopped and went fishing. He explained so many things around the area. He also gave us binoculars to watch birds. We enjoyed this more than our Yala Safari!! The day we checked out, I forgot a precious gold and diamond necklace in the room. As soon as Randy saw it, he informed us, but we were already in our next stop (3 and a half hours away). He insisted on bringing it (we suggested shipping, but he refused as "it could be stolen"). He rode public transportation to bring it to Mirissa and went back 3 and a half hours again immediately.

Our stay at lavender home was fantastic, it is homely, comfortable and the hospitality was out of this world. The rooms are clean and the AC is cold so after a humid day it was much needed. We had our 2 year old with us and the hosts were so friendly and gracious with him that he felt right at home in their arms! The seating area overlooking the rice paddy was ideallic and we spent many hours relaxing on the balcony. We got given local fruit and king coconuts to try. We had dinner at the property each night and the fresh Sri Lankan curries were fantastic! They also arranged a safari to Yala national park, it was well organised and included a packed breakfast and lunch. We definitely recommend staying at lavender home if you are planning on visiting Tissa.

The air conditioner was cold, the water hot, the pool refreshing, the view spectacular, breakfast delicious and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The room or the tent, while it's basic, it's self sufficient bug free with an ensuite shower and toilet. The grounds around the camp is spacious and a true immersion in mother nature. The food is authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The 4 dogs are therapeutic to stroke. The safari tour was guided by Sudesh who has eagle's vision for spotting wild life from miles away. He'd helped us to spot snake, monitor lizard, all kinds of birds, crocodiles and definitely a leopard resting on a tree 20m away.

Offering a year-round outdoor pool and barbecue, The Coconut Gardens Hotel & Restaurant is located in Tissamaharama, 900 metres from Tissa Wewa. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was perfect – from the spotless rooms and excellent facilities to the friendly and attentive staff who made me feel truly welcome. The atmosphere was relaxing, the service was outstanding, and every detail exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-quality experience.

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to stay inside Yala National Park, a rare and exceptional experience, as mobile camping is often unavailable in other parks. We initially had reservations about staying in the heart of the jungle, but this concern was quickly forgotten—the location is absolutely amazing, offering the real jungle experience we were seeking, free from the usual human or vehicle noise. This truly is the best place in the area, situated immediately next to the park, where we were delighted to see a wide variety of birds around the camp, and a nearby lake yielded incredible sightings, including four elephants and numerous crocodiles. The overall service and culinary experience were exceptional. The incredibly friendly staff always worked hard to ensure our stay was comfortable, and we truly appreciated their efforts, understanding that running a camp inside the National Park means they cannot offer the same luxuries as conventional hotels. Sara, the manager, is a good and brave person to successfully run this challenging operation with his dedicated team. The food was a major highlight and truly the most delicious we had in Sri Lanka. The chef prepared the food exactly to our preference, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond when we requested Halal food by personally showing us their preparations. The glamping tent was spacious and well-made, and we enjoyed a delightful BBQ around a bonfire. Our full-day safari was very successful; we were lucky enough to spot two leopards and elephants, making for an impressive wildlife experience. A memorable moment occurred when a leopard approached close to our tent in the evening—we suspect the aroma of our cooking meat might have been the attraction! Overall, the seamless operation, high standard of service, excellent food, and the thrill of the jungle proximity made this a truly remarkable stay.

I really like the breakfast I think that the suite that we stayed in was very spacious and it was clean, well organized, and it was a treat to have the private to our accommodation.

If you are looking for a hidden gem in Yala, The Yala Vista is a must visit. From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by how peaceful and beautiful the place is. It is surrounded by so much nature, and it feels like the perfect place to relax and recharge. Waking up to birds singing and seeing peacocks roam the grounds while having breakfast was magical. The staff is wonderful and does everything they can to make your stay comfortable and fun. The food is really good and fairly priced. They also set up BBQs and bonfire nights, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. One of the best things about staying here is how easy it is to mix adventure and relaxation. You can visit all the nearby historical sites, go on a Yala safari, and then come back to the hotel to enjoy the peaceful nature, delicious food, and warm hospitality. The surroundings are so tranquil and full of life that it feels like a little paradise. They also offer village safari tours, which we did not have time for but will definitely do next time. Whether you want to relax, explore, or just enjoy beautiful nature, The Yala Vista is perfect. We cannot wait to go back.
