We arrived on Saturday early evening. It was busy, but the ladies who met us were immediately welcoming and friendly. They assured us we’d get a table in the bar to eat a bit later and took us to our room. Absolutely beautiful room. So tastefully decorated and immaculate, clean and elegant. Gorgeous bathroom. The bed was soooo comfortable. Plenty of coffee and tea and bottled water in the fridge! Food in the bar was excellent. I had the homemade beef pie, my husband chose the salmon. I cannot emphasis enough how friendly every single member of staff was. To add to our experience-we were offered a complimentary breakfast-we would have been silly to turn that down!!! Breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. We were attending a family christening on the Sunday, and weren’t around for most of the day but when we returned in the early evening, despite a very busy Sunday lunch service, the chef offered to make us a toasted sandwich with some fries. Again, a delicious meal. Sadly, we had to leave on Monday, but not before another lovely breakfast and a great chat with Helen, our lovely server! We will be back - highly recommended!

This place is exceptional and the hosts, Michael and Julia are amazing. They will do everything possible to make your stay a pleasant one. The facilities are fantastic. Modern rooms with lovely bathrooms, good heating and very comfy beds. Tea and coffee provided in your room as well as having a quality breakfast included in the price. There is a bar on-site as well, with more than reasonable drinks pricing. Overall a brilliant place to stay. Thanks Michael and Julia.

The hotel's location reminded me of Shakespeare's time. Exceptional, historic and charming! The room was ok, good beds, cleanliness. The breakfast was unexpected by the offerer and served in a purely British atmosphere! (A note: the heat from radiator cannot be adjusted- room 11) Cristian & sons

inexpensive castle 3* hotel not meeting expectation.

inexpensive castle 3* hotel not meeting expectation. Upgraded to a suite which was not a suite, just a large rectangular room and the window was frosted since no view and a wall 3 feet on the other side. The health spa was great. Restaurant food was fair, nothing more. if you want to stay in a castle hotel cheaply, it is the right place but you will not be impressed if you have the suite 26. Some staff in restaurant and reception were not friendly but did deliver the service over time professionally.

A very typical Yorkshire market town.

A very typical Yorkshire market town. Plenty of shops and bars. The cheapest Wetherspoons I've been to. The town is quite compact, so not far to see all the shops. We went to Burton Agnes Hall, which we really enjoyed. In the other direction is Sledmere House, another place worth visiting. About 10 miles away is Bridlington, and the East coast. Plenty to see and do.

It was nice to walk along the sea front and around the town: no major steep inclines and a variety of places to visit close by. The are various eating places to choose from but we opted for a chinese meal. Fortunately we found the Golden Wok. You have to pay cash or via bank transfer but it is well worth it. My wife had duck and I have a Singapore King Prawn Noodles. Both meals were excellent and we paid £22.50 for the food.

Plenty of places to eat.

Plenty of places to eat. We didn't go out to try nightlife bit there was plenty pubs/clubs within walking distance of apartment we stayed in. We visited for my hod daughters parents wedding blessing & would like to go back again as we didn't get the chance to have proper look around. If you stay in one of the apartments there's plenty of shops & also Tesco is close by. We were told a little about history of Goole & would have like to have ground out more. Hopefully will be returning to visit my god daughters family again end of April for 80s night which charter club is organising

Great place to visit on a short break.

Great place to visit on a short break. Plenty of places to eat and drink, some fantastic old pubs. Locals all very friendly. The Minster is a must to visit and there are lots of shops and a market on Wednesday and Saturday. Had it not been for the very wet weather, we would have walked along the canal path and visited the local parks and woodland walks.
