Hotel has a special charm …the staff are second to none and are consistently helpful, charming and informative. The hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean and really well maintained. It is obviously run so well and is always a pleasure to spend time in. Breakfast was excellent…especially for vegans…and the host was really charming which complimented the service.

Eastbourne is a very lively, friendly place to visit. Even in the cold of November we experienced some lovely walks along the prom. Everybody we past either spoke to us, nodded as they passed by. The shopping centre was excellent, and the choices for food were in abundance.

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.

We went to the English Heritage 1066 re enactment weekend and also visited Hastings where we had lived in the past. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs, some small independent retailers, and antiques. in Battle. The Abbey and museum are also worth a visit. . There is easy parking even on a busy weekend. It has easy access from the A21 linking up to M25.

The spa was very well apportioned and it was very quiet and secluded. The staff throughout the hotel were extremely pleasant. One thing they must do in the restaurant is ensure that the wine ordered has arrived and ready to drink before the food is served. It is not good form to serve the food without the wine bottle even being at the table, let alone not opened.
