- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 306 reviewsYoung couple visiting Cotswolds for the first time . Absolutely outstanding hotel grounds! We could not believe the size of the place. We were delighted with the service of the staff they all worked hard , were attentive and the place was beautifully decorated and clean . Room was clean , spacious and cosy . Main house we really enjoyed exploring particularly the reception and billiard room! The spa was excellent with immaculate changing rooms . We went at a quiet time so had full use of the jacuzzis. Just what you need on a cold dry night. Dressing gowns in the rooms which were perfect if you took a chilly walk there. The food was delicious and plenty of options. We opted to have 3 courses at the travelling duke for 2 nights for only £25pp including steak ! We hope we can come back for a meal at the Brassiere as this was booked up every night. The value for the location, room, food, spa and hotel entertainment services was excellent. Didn’t use the golf course but it was appealing. Lots of activities to do too when you are there. The location was perfect and only a short drive to Chipping Norton and into other towns. Surprised it didn’t attract a younger crowd but we can’t wait to come back!Guest review byemmaUnited Kingdom
- From US$486.30 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 3,126 reviewsThe hotel is wonderful. The magic begins right after you check in, when you are handed the keys to the room. But this is a surprise. Must see for yourself. The atmosphere in the hotel is in the style of old England, rich in tradition and architecture. Luxurious interiors are preserved and complemented with modern materials in the style of the 1800s. The staff is very friendly and attentive.Guest review byIRINACyprus

Never have we seen so much cordiality, cleanliness, care and loving detail. Very romantic and peaceful. Everything is perfectly thought out, from the tent furnishings, the ready-to-go fireplace in front of the tent to the functional kitchen shelter. The operators were exceptionally friendly and helpful.Guest review byJudithSwitzerland

The superb college buildings, open spaces, river (we enjoyed a 90 minute river cruise), eating facilities (especially ‘Chutneys’ Indian restaurant) and the lively atmosphere all contributed to a wonderful short break. Everything was in comfortable walking distance, but there are a constant stream of buses and it is easy to get around the main attractions via this means if you wish. If we had a minor criticism, there is a lack of litter bins and strategically placed benches - and watch out for cyclists as there are very many and you need to be vigilant when stepping off pavements!Guest review byClarkUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A nice little town which we visited for social reasons. Hit on market day which added to the atmosphere. Other than that we did not spend a lot of time there but would like to investigate further should there be a next time.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It's a lovely village as has numerous nearby villages that are definitely worth visiting. We were looking to have a chat with locals in a pub and weren't disappointed. Everyone we met was friendly to us and we certainly enjoyed the various village pubs we visited. We particularly liked the Blue Boar in Chipping Norton (sitting outside basking in the sun) and Chequers at Churchill - great atmosphere with good food and service. Also close to Diddly Squat and Farmer's Dog which we visited and were lucky enough to meet Gerald at the Farm shop. We didn't go into the shop or the pub but as a visitor we enjoyed the alternate experiences available.Guest review bySandraAustralia - 10.0

Delightful old town with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Lovely old buildings, especially the almshouses and the church. Friendly people. Good eating places. Smashed avocado at The Pablo Lounge is excellent! Good location for catching a bus into Oxford or for exploring the area generally. Walks along river delightful.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The town has a little bit of everything from a bustling town centre, small museum, great bookstores , a great choice and variety of cafes and pubs. The nearby country walks across beautiful Cotswold countryside also provides you with exercise and fresh air. Clarkson’s pub-The Farmer’s Dog-is within busing or walking distance. There are many other pubs worth visiting nearby as well-many providing delicious and nutritious meals. We really enjoyed our visit and would come again.Guest review byJayneCanada - 10.0

The front desk was terrible and gave us a downgrade on our room and then told us there was nothing that could be done due to being sold out and because we used Bookings.com. We complained, asked for the manager and showed the pictures on a Superior room from their website and on our booking. He moved us to a family room, but it had 2 double beds and two chairs seating vs a Superior room has a king bed and a settee and a desk. It was not what we wanted, but it was better than the standard room with a king bed (incredibly small room) that they tried to put us in.Guest review byTrinaUnited States - 6.0
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along.
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along. Sit and watch the birds, fish, boats, dragonflies, and people enjoying themselves. The Rose Revived Public House and Restaurant is not for fine dining but you can have a wonderful meal and a lovely drink in nice surroundings. The willows and gardens are lovely. The waitresses like Ella are well trained and full of life.Guest review byNicholas - 8.0

An attractive small town, right next door to Blenheim Palace and near to Oxford: an excellent base for exploring the area more generally. The town has lots of places to eat and drink, and some useful shops, including a co-op in the centre of town. Prices aren't cheap, but quality is good. Parking can be a bit of a problem at busy periods, but we managed OK.Guest review byGeoffreyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
