A really nice stay in the heart of Brighton Marina. Some hotels say they are dog friendly but are actually dog tolerant - allowed in the room but nowhere else. Not this one, we had a great meal in the bar with our idiot. The room was great and they provided a dog bed and bowls which was a very nice touch. We will be back.

Eastbourne is a very lively, friendly place to visit. Even in the cold of November we experienced some lovely walks along the prom. Everybody we past either spoke to us, nodded as they passed by. The shopping centre was excellent, and the choices for food were in abundance.

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.

We went to the English Heritage 1066 re enactment weekend and also visited Hastings where we had lived in the past. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs, some small independent retailers, and antiques. in Battle. The Abbey and museum are also worth a visit. . There is easy parking even on a busy weekend. It has easy access from the A21 linking up to M25.
