For starters, this wasn't our first rodeo at Clementines. Over the past couple of years, I must've called - either with my son or partner - some 4/5 times. Rooms exquisite, staff and welcome exemplary, an ambience you won't find anywhere else in York. The decor is classic yet contemporary, amazing beds, wonderful bathrooms, AND - for the first time yet - we had breakfast. Oh my life, what've I been spending my life doing?? Superb spread, all seemingly local produce, and JUST the right amount of food to set you off on your day. Plus, it snowed over Saturday night, so we woke to a deep blanket of the white stuff. Lovely.

It is an exeptional hotel. Like the whole town, the building itself has a history - in this case it was the former headquarter of the british railways - and this flair is still their. Everything was exeptionally friendly, clean, good quality and so on - I will definatly stay again.

We stayed in York for our honeymoon during the Christmas...

We stayed in York for our honeymoon during the Christmas markets, and it was absolutely fantastic. The city feels magical at that time of year – the historic streets, festive lights, and the atmosphere around the markets made it feel really special and memorable. There are so many great places to eat and drink, from cosy pubs to excellent restaurants, and everywhere we went the food and service were spot on. York is very walkable, full of character, and perfect for taking things at a relaxed pace while still having plenty to see and do. We also took advantage of a couple of day trips booked through GetYourGuide, which were well organised and a great way to explore beyond the city without any hassle. Overall, York was the perfect honeymoon destination – romantic, historic, festive, and full of great experiences. We couldn’t have chosen a better place and would absolutely love to return, especially at Christmas.

The location was perfect for attending The Sheffield Arena...

The location was perfect for attending The Sheffield Arena for a concert, other than the location the facilities were awful, a toilet in a small cupboard, the sink in the actual room, alongside the shower in the room with a glass door and a big round hole in the glass door for any other occupants in the room able to view you in the shower, therefore we felt too uncomfortable to use the shower. The beds moved as not attached to the headboard and were on legs like a camp bed, a very small tv in the corner of the room, budget ibis facilities is an understatement, we left early next morning to escape the unfortunate facilities and to shower back at home in private Payment for parking is also an insult as room prices way overpriced let alone parking fee on top !!

I have known Harrogate since I was a child, and I was sad to see so many of the grand old shops closed on the high street. But it is still a beautiful town to visit with a lot of history, beautiful buildings and parks. Well worth a tour of the Festival Hall or around the old spa town if you can get one.

The city centre itself is architecturally impressive, lots...

The city centre itself is architecturally impressive, lots of lovely Victorian buildings and the streets have had a makeover due to the Bradford 2025 status. The Alhambra and Bradford Live venues are impressive and there seems lots to do and see. A few nice restaurants too. However, the city can feel a little intimidating at times, gangs of young men and kids and lots of homeless, particularly if you venture outside of the immediate city centre. The Broadwalk shopping centre is clean and modern, but other areas of the city centre and run down and very tired, with lots of empty shops. More phone and vape shops than anywhere else I've been in the UK for some reason. Beware also of the standard of driving in the city, as speed limits, traffic lights and indicators are frequently ignored, so always check twice before crossing the road!

Doncaster town is very depressing.

Doncaster town is very depressing. Big shops moved out and lots of shops closed entirely. Such a shame. We lived here for eleven years and moved with work but come back frequently to see friends. From the bank HSBC up Hallgate to the top is a very sad sight. Money needs investing to make it lovely again.
