Very nice hotel in pretty village San Giovanni! Nice room with beautiful bathroom. The garden is beautiful and spacious. Breakfast was very tasty and the coffee was so good! We even asked for extra! It is a little bit out of Bologna town but if you want to have a peaceful accommodation, this on is for you!

Selected because the Grand Hotel Majestic belongs to the LHW(Leading Hotels in the World). I also remembered that my father in law once stayed. They helped book dinner reservation after the opera observation, showing us four candidates. Then we could easily compared between them via Internet based on the recommendation upon preference. ...It was indeed nice restaurant for cuisine, flexible of service and hospitality. They also recommended and suggested nice place to visit. But it was only quite a part of their excellent and warm hearted services. ... Another was when I forgot my wallet at the hotel room I stayed. Hotel officer called me regarding the lost within two hours. My drivers' license and cash and other Important documents were in it. ... I managed to plan returning to the hotel though the schedule was very tight. The services they made were outstanding and helped me a lot. My travel was Indeed saved. I'd recommend this hotel for good travellers visiting Bologna, in Italy, even though I myself was not a good traveler at all.

We stayed for an overnight sleep on a road trip through Italy. The hotel is so nice it's fit for a longer stay for the visit in the area. It's impeccably clean throughout and the room is very comfortable. The bedding is excellent. The staff is very kind and friendly. The location is some 20 minutes walk from the historic downtown, but the plus side is the large free parking, plenty of restaurants just around the corner, and the real life going on around you (the slow cheerful life, when looked superficially, as a tourist). The rooftop terrace is a gem!

Bologna has become a little more expensive than on previous...

Bologna has become a little more expensive than on previous visits, but generally a really interesting place to visit with great rail links to other towns. From Bologna we have visited Ferrara, Ravenna, Parma, Forli and Imola for day trips. Plenty of museums etc. to visit, would recommend a walking tour on your first day for orientation purposes. WE always use the Free Walking Tours on offer. Good food easy to find and have always felt safe walking around.

It's a rather remote, quiet town.

It's a rather remote, quiet town. Nothing to draw one to except quiet and near the Bologna airport. I ended up choosing to heat up a packaged curry/rice meal from the supermarket, as the only other choice (since I didm't have a car) was a pizzeria.

We were pleasantly surprised by Imola—its historical city center is truly lovely. Despite welcoming over 240,000 spectators for the Grand Prix, if you ventured off the beaten path, you could still find quiet streets and charming corners to enjoy in peace. It’s a beautiful blend of vibrant energy and tranquil charm.

Sasso Marconi is a perfect half way point between...

Sasso Marconi is a perfect half way point between Switzerland and Rome. The main square in front of the church is a happening place with a market and a great meeting place for the locals. A particular highlight is Profumerie Piselli a perfume/ cosmetic shop just around the corner from the square.

It was perfect for what we wanted as a family of 3.

It was perfect for what we wanted as a family of 3. We were travelling from the north to the south and used it as an overnight stop. It was very rural and peaceful which we liked, and Emanuela was very helpful in arranging a table at the local Osteria. They have horses there and a very friendly dog called Missy, who was a great favourite with my daughter. If you want an overnight stop during your holiday I'd highly recommend it.

The beautiful pittoresque old town and its wonderful buildings. The location of the tourist information on the wrong side of the highway, Taake was surprised by all the possible obstacles. I got the feeling that the city really doesn't even want tourists in its village. The mural was wonderful, but nobody or anything said anything about it either. The cycling route that runs through the city is really great, it should just be brought to more awareness. The tourism marketing of this city needs a strong shake-up, because the city really has a lot to offer to tourists who appreciate nature and exercise and good local food and drink.

Bologna is a great city.

Bologna is a great city. Full of interesting architecture and art. The small streets off the Piazza Maggiore are so full of great food shops, eateries and bars that you really don't have to venture further afield. Of you do, the buses are so easy to use but really the centre is contained it's easy to walk to most places.

Airport: For some, it may be important that this place is near the airport of Bologna. Restaurant: From the accommodation we got a tip about the restaurant Ristorante Pizzeria "Itaca" in Calderara di Reno - excellent 👍 (10min. by a car) Visit Bologna: Bologna is a very busy town with narrow streets. I strongly do not recommend going into the historic centre by a car. Use the underground garages on the outskirts of the historic centre - e.g. on Via Riva di Reno and then walk

We loved the town, it is lively enough, with restaurants, cafes and shops, but less touristy than Bologna which we had visited before that. We felt much safer and relaxed here in Imola. We enjoyed the walk in the historical centre, a visit to the Duomo, walking in the Acque Minerali park. Unfortunately, the fortress was closed for reconstruction at the time but we observed it at least from the outside and learned about its history from a very useful app. It's called VisitARe Imola app and we loved it, it's exactly what you need for individual sightseeing of the city and the surroundings. The kids enjoyed having a look at the Imola circuit and driving in the simulators. And other sights in the region are within a reasonable driving distance. The closest is Dozza, which we felt in love with but also a longer trip to San Marino and Rimini was absolutely worth it. And strangely perhaps, we liked the walk around the Piratello cemetery. It is really impressive and even more so in the time of our visit - just two days before All Saints' Day.
