- From US$222.94 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 703 reviewsIt is difficult to know where to start this review. This hotel is without doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed in Italy. It is not easy to find so always ask the hotel to confirm the exact location as SATNAV does not help but so worth the effort. The hotel family are just amazing, friendly, welcoming, warm and so engaged in all they do, the homemade products like honey and jam plus wine, cheese, meats and bread make each meal a delight. Free mini bar with prosecco, biscuits, snacks, soft drinks is so unusual. Our room as fantastic with a lovely balcony which we enjoyed very much. The highlights for us included the wellness area which is just incredible (and free) and the dinner we enjoyed at the onsite restaurant (book to avoid disappointment) specializing in local dishes with modern and inspirational presentations matched by the wonderful Piedmonte wines. One night was not enough! We did not manage to leave the hotel as we enjoyed so much the facilities and happiness generated by the hotel family but the local area around Orta is so beautiful we must return. On leaving we received a large jar of honey (from their bees at the farm) and our Italian friends are enjoying this so much!Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom

Recommend having a car Apparently there were waterfalls somewhere We could have looked a bit more at the flyers downstairs , there were lots available The ones I took for the lac were good It was relaxing and peaceful thereGuest review byCarolNew Zealand
- From US$1,170.16 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 170 reviewsEverything! We are quite spoiled travellers and have stayed in many 5-star hotels but Casa Fantini was exceptional in everything. 😀 Amazing rooms and views on the lake (we had a suite and a double room). 😀 Design of the house and the interior and the rooms is absolutely magnificent. We love Piero Lissoni design. 😀 Comfortable and cosy outdoor space with a nice pool area 😀 Lovely breakfast - can’t wish for more or better - served outdoor or semi-outdoor 😀 Best staff ever with an exceptional service mind setGuest review byFransDenmark
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 800 reviewsAccidentally arrived during the towns annual festival. Very lively, loud music going on until 2.00am, but fun. We watched the excellent fireworks display o the Sunday from the 5th floor terrace. Our room was good with great aircon big bathroom. All very clean. Included breakfast was very good. Location by the lake surrounded by bars and restaurants. The hotel previously warned us about noise from the festival.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom

He welcomed us even though we arrived a little bit late when it was already dark. The villa is with amazing view to the lake, the atmosphere is very relaxing and the garden is wonderful. We would definitely recommend the villa to our friends or will stay again there for our next visit in this area.Guest review byRusiBulgaria
- From US$153.35 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 732 reviewsThe location is so central, and gorgeous. We jumped off the hotel dock into the lovely, clear lake to swim. The hotel has a labyrinth of interesting rooms, with furnishings which are traditional and full of character. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The grape vines over the lower terrace roof add charm, and the upper terraces offer good sunbathing spots.Guest review byBrigetteHong Kong

Rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and the staff very helpful. The Buffet breakfast catered for all nationalities with a great choice of food. Staff at the pool shack made an iced espresso that kept the energy levels up. Can’t fault this property.Guest review byMilenaAustralia

This is a beautiful place, quieter than other lakes we visited and the town is easily explored on foot or by boat. It has a beautiful piazza and many bars and restaurants - but also historic monuments - such as a hermitage and the twenty shrines to St Francis. There are walks from the town, or across to the other site of the lake. People seemed relaxed and friendly, even though it was late in the seasonGuest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0

If you are seeking peace, tranquility and natural beauty - this is the place for you. No children and gorgeous lake - much smaller than Como or Maggiore but you can easily get to Maggiore in 30 minutes if you want more life. Gorgeous restaurant which the hostess arrange for us with taxi to and from included just down the road and a little local Osteria 30 meters away for a truly local experience.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
There were market stalls on Thursday.
There were market stalls on Thursday. Extremely helpful and patient locals (we speak a tiny, tiny amount of Italian). Great local takeaways, cafe's and restaurants. A couple of supermarkets if you really want them but why would you with all the local shops selling the best cheese, meats, bread and pastries.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We only had one nights stay at the hotel as a stopover coming from france travelling down through Italy, however it was exactly what we expected and more. A really lovely location with a great aspect, Monte Bianco was viewable from our room balcony. it was very clean and the staff were helpful. the food was nice, however i would of liked to seen an itemised bill for our food, when we checked out. On retrospect i'm not sure if i was overcharged slightly for our dinner. If that was the case its partly my fault for not enquiring further. Having said this we would definitely return if we took this route again. Peaceful and enjoyable stay with clean nice rooms.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We stayed in Alzo, part of Pella apparently, but its own little village up the hill somewhat on the west side of Lago d'Orta. The square looks over the lake: fantastic view with a small village feeling. Post office, lodging choices, church, dining (Osteria del Gallo), bank, all a short drive down to Pella or up more to the homes and sights high above.Guest review byWilliam - 10.0
Miasino is a quit small village.
Miasino is a quit small village. We choose for a dinner @ villa Nigra Taverne. Fine and fresh cooked. The other day we start to walk down to the lake steep but nice walk for 20 minutes and visit the old village for a couple of hours.Guest review byJanNetherlands - 10.0
So quiet, so quaint. The Unesco site is very spiritual.
So quiet, so quaint. The Unesco site is very spiritual. Try to go early. This lake is so pretty and unspoiled. Stay in a hotel so you have the town for yourself at night. Not really, in September there are still many tourists but in the evenings the main square is a feast.Guest review byHubertUnited States - 10.0

Very good welcome from the two brothers who run the Battle of Britain hotel. We had lunch and it was served in a large dining room overlooking lake Orta and the beautiful gardens downstairs. The view is stunning. Lunch was very pleasant. Good beef carpaccio served with plenty of parmigiano and small salads on side. I discovered a new Italian dessert called Bonet, a speciality from Turin. Efficient and friendly staff 👏👏Guest review byJean-MichelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The old town is lovely, and pedestrian.
The old town is lovely, and pedestrian. Lots of ice cream shops and restaurants. it wasn't too crowded (mid-July). There is a lovely lakeside path, especially on the north side of town. You can take a boat to the island which only takes 5 mins. Walking around the island takes around 20 mins (it's an interior path so you don't see the lake much while on the island), but the church is lovely. You can also walk up (quite steep) to the 'Sacro Monte' on the hill with its many frescoed chapels and churches dedicated to St Francis of Assisi. Access to the town might not be easy if you have mobility problems as the car park is on the hill.Guest review byCarolynFrance
