RomaniaEverything was great. The location is very nice, in the middle of the mountains and you can watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great for pictures too. The hosts have been very nice and they offer itinerary recommendations which is a plus.
You can see sheeps and cows guided by dogs as they pass through the valley and this is a particular experience. Started the fire, cooked and drank tea watching the sun go down.
I recommend booking this location for a few days at least, in order to enjoy the whole experience and visit the surroundings, like Cheile Dambovicioarei, Pestera Dambovicioarei and Cheile Brusturetului. There is also a small waterfall called Izvoarele din Plai in Cheile Dambovicioarei area. Great to take pictures of the Rucar-Bran passage as well.
The location is guarded by 3 dogs - Fetita, Piratul and Lolo, they are friendly and complete this unique experience in the middle of the nature. I do recommend long walks in the surroundings of the cottage, the air is so fresh and the views are impressive.

AustriaSuper clean and comfortable. Shower was great and the heating in the room was also great which was important as we stayed when it was snowing. The shared kitchen is really nice and I loved the dried mint tea that the host left for us to use (most likely picked by them in the mountains).

What a fantastic find! I recently stayed at Pensiunea Maria and had such a wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by how incredibly clean and well-maintained everything was. The place has a charming, rustic feel that makes it feel like a true escape, but it’s also wonderfully cozy and inviting.
What really made my stay, though, were the hosts. The people who run the guesthouse are so friendly and welcoming—they made me feel right at home. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and friendly getaway. Highly recommended!

It is the second time we come back here, the first time was a great experience as we book our stay in a tent as was summer time, but now we got the bungalow and we had the same great experience as the first time, as the view from the bungalow is equally amazing.
The food was great and we were pleased to find food adapted for people allergic to milk, eggs and gluten for our son. Also on Saturday night, was live cooking by Chef Andrei Zait.
We will definitely come back maybe also in the winter to enjoy the snow.

Location was very good - near the center of the village, within walking distance of the Dambovicioara cave (+ hiking and sports climbing routes near Cabana Brusturet).
Room + bathroom were recently renovated and super clean. Beds comfy and nice and warm room temperature.
The manager was super nice and refilled our thermos with tea for free.
I’d say it was great value for the money, and would definitely stay there again.

Location is great, we had plenty of snow as well. Very cold outside (-14) but the lady kept the house very warm! You have pretty much everything you need for a cottage in the mountains, staff very friendly and she cooked delicious breakfast for all of us. The kids were very happy as well, is the perfect place if you want to relax for few days. Value for money great.

Beautiful place in autumn.
Beautiful place in autumn. If you like hikes and nature, this place is for you. There are a few great restaurants (I can recommend La Tuspi). Definitely come with a car!
The gorges and caves are a good place to visit.

Rucar is one of the top rural communities in Romania and its tourism is approaching that level, too. Well connected to all things modern life is requiring (utilities, shops, phone, fast internet, etc) in its main village -Rucar - it offers as well beautiful landscapes there and in two smaller villages, Saticul de Jos and Saticul de Sus - tucked between the slopes of Piatra Craiului and Iezer Mts. Lots of offers for short or long stays. Nice in winter and in summer. Should also see the autumns colors there.
