An excellent hotel in Taitung! Big and clean rooms with all of the amenities and very good breakfast! Free drinks and free bikes make it easy to get around the city. The staff was extremely helpful, particularly Patrick. He picked us up from the train station, he helped us arrange our trip to Lanyu Island and he gave us all the information needed, with kind patience, to our myriad questions. Thank you so much!!!

Hotel looks new and posh, very welcoming especially with the free drinks and ice cream at lobby for all guests. Everything in this hotel looks new and well maintained, good size room and very comfy bed. We booked the hotel with dinner and breakfast and the variety, quality was excellent. Wonderful setup. I was also very impressed with the staff service attitude - extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. I have misplaced my dinner coupons after check-in and went back to the front desk to ask for replacement, the staff could even remember my room number after a 30 mins lapse, I am impressed!

The guesthouse has a wonderful terrasse, just by the ocean. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the terrace and watching the waves. Rooms are nice and clean. The host welcomed us very nicely. Helped us to arrange ferry tickets and also invited for a family dinner. We highly appreciate her hospitality and care. We surely recommend this place!

Buffet is very nice, plenty of choices. The show during the night is exceptional. Public hot spring facility is very well. There are plenty of activities offered by hotel. It would be better if hotel could send activity information in advance, so that we won't miss it.

Rooms were modern with thoughtful additions like a nightlight for the bathroom. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and had excellent service from a young man who spoke English (he said to call him Yu). The breakfast buffet was extensive, basically a brunch.

Great view of the ocean, a place to relax and get away from...

Great view of the ocean, a place to relax and get away from the city. The restaurants there are ample but the most popular will need to get booked in advance. The location is remote but the journey there, whether by train or driving is a memorable experience by itself. For those who like the ocean front vacation spot, this is the place not to miss. Once over there, rent a motorcycle for the best experiences. If going there by train, buy the tickets in advance, especially during the weekends or holidays. Train tickets are sold out easily.

This is a scenic valley running back into mountainous old growth forests. Ubiquitous hot springs, plentiful wildlife, and national park with a variety of hiking trails. Easy access by bus from Zhiben station.

Fabulous town. The lake area is so beautiful to walk around. Also hire bicycles and electric carts to explore the area around the lake. Lots of great photo ops. Fabulous scenery. Great sculptures. Toilet stops. The town has plenty of places and variety of places to eat. Plenty of places to stay to suit all pockets. A quiet town, restful. Able to relax but plenty to see.

Lots of places to eat. The fish restaurants a tad expensive though. Some good local food at small cafes. Some good coffee shops. Harbour could do with a face lift but it is a working harbour. The park and beach area lovely to walk around and relax watching the waves crash. The 8 arch bridge area lovely.

The two of us couldn't ride a motorcycle so we had to rent a...

The two of us couldn't ride a motorcycle so we had to rent a driver, which was expensive (4500 twd for 1 day) but it saves you from riding near the cliffs/ in the dark at night. We went during the low season and the bus seemed unavailable (and we haven't seen one anywhere during our two-day stay). Would recommend visiting during summer (before October) to avoid the monsoon. Overall it s beautiful albeit somewhat touristy

Unfortunately we visited off season and it seems that most things are shut so we found it a bit depressing. If we returned it would be later in the year when we could visit the off shore islands. We also had wet weather but discovered the National Prehistory Museum which is a taxi ride outside the city but one of the best museums we have visited. It was so good we went twice because we did not have enough time to see everything on our first visit. It is also a very good museum for children. Cycling all round on the cycle trails for the day was an excellent activity and there was plenty to see.

I stayed 2 nights in Chishang and it was exactly what I was looking for - a peaceful rest, in a beautiful location, an easy train ride from Taipei. There were very few European tourists and not much English spoken, but people were very friendly and keen to help and communicate. There are heaps of bike and buggy rental places. I hired a bike overnight so could ride along the cycling routes before and after the busiest tourist times. Even when there were lots of people riding around, they mostly stayed on Mr Brown Avenue and the other paths were pretty empty. I stayed a bit out of town, so a bike also made it easy to get to restaurants, shops, etc.

Great swim in warm Pacific across the street was an unexpected bonus Host was very pleasant and communicated with Google translate. Drove us to Chenggong for dinner and picked us up for a fee. Mama Song is where he took us and it was very good. Served delicious breakfast and coffee. Room and facilities were excellent. On a noisy main road but we slept well with double curtains and thick windows - and did not need earplugs provided.

Small city. Train station is not downtown. From train station possibility to take bus to downtown approximately 20 minutes drive to bus station. Frequent busses. City is only worth stopping if you plan a trip to the 2 islands nearby.
