Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumMy room was on the top (6th) floor and had a single bed. The bed itself was very comfortable, but the pillow seemed very old and offered no neck support, so I didn’t sleep very well. After two days the room also started to smell a bit odd, as it hadn’t been cleaned.
It’s close to the station and the Dom, with public transport just around the corner. The rooms are quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is just right for me, a good and varied selection of foods.

LuxembourgThe shower head in my room was so calcified, that it was painful to use with high water pressure. I decided to buy vinegar at a shop nearby and treated it over night to make it nice for the next days (problem perfectly solved). There was also a smell on the corridor, a bit more fresh air would have helped. Tilting the window was possible in the room, so that nuisance was not perceivable anymore.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Some art in the corridors. The location was perfect for shopping: you are in the main shopping street just when stepping out of the hotel. Also access to trams to cross the Rhine in direction of the Cologne Lanxess Arena e.g. (3 stations away). It is just a 10 minutes walk to the Kölner Dom or to the riverside. If you are not a big fan of breakfast buffets, there is a charming coffee shop a few meters from the hotel, in which you can have a cappuccino and a piece of cake (sitting inside or terrass, no car traffic).

AustraliaMany weird messages via booking.com, the translation isn't correct, said I must complete this and that, if I don't I can't check in and was extremely confusing. I didn't need to complete anything. And that they won't receive messages via booking.com and the link sent was only for upgrading not checking in. Because of this I didn't get sent wifi and had to go ask after check in and not seeing anything in the room and not told anything. They also sent so many emails, I got 12! Only booking 2 nights. And they were incorrect as well, on check out day I was sent emails telling me my check out is tomorrow..... They made things much harder and confusing, not using tech well.
Rooms are decent, can use a nearby gym for free

SingaporeI was in Cologne for FIBO, a large exhibition. The best thing about the hotel is its location - it is located at the end of the shopping street, an easy 10 min stroll to the Dom Cathedral. Room size was ok. The main issue for me was the room cleaning is only done every 2 days, and the housekeeping actually missed and forgot to clean my room after the second day. The reception staff was nice however and when I complained, she came up and did some cleaning herself. The pillows were sort of formless and soft. Couldn’t get good neck support from them. The hotel gives you 2 duvets instead of 1 on a king/queen sized bed and I suppose the theory is that the 2 persons don’t have to fight for the duvet. The problem however the duvet is narrow and barely covered me (and I am not extra large in size). The main door was supposed to lock after hours when there was no one at reception, however from experience (I was out almost all 6 nights late), it was never locked and I got into the hotel without using my key pass. From there, one can access all areas of the hotel, including outside of the rooms via the staircase or the lifts (which didn’t require any keycard to activate). So security-wise, it’s not the most secure. Fortunately there were no problems or incidents for me.

United KingdomThe single bed was an old-fashioned size, more typical of what a monk might expect 50 years ago.. flawed thinking. A bottle of beer would have been a nice addition to the almost empty fridge - I needed one after a day at Merheim Neuro NovaKlinik visiting a close friend.
