Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom was quite cramped and humid. Lights around the bottom of the room didn't turn off which was annoying when trying to sleep. Shower had a leak that drenched the bathroom floor so it was wet for everyone else. On a busy street so keep your possessions close to you.
Great location, hostel had really good community. Plenty of seating downstairs. Beds were comfy and there was a good amount of privacy. €2 luggage storage and free walking tour available.

United StatesThe common area was not very inviting and warm. Breakfast didn't look good to me.
It was affordable and one of the only female dorms I could find. The location was excellent. I liked that there was ambient lighting on all night in the dorm so that when each person came in, they didn't need to switch on overhead bright lights. The ambient lighting was soft orange and did not affect my sleep. Staff was very kind and helpful. 24 hr reception is very nice too.

United KingdomThe 6 bedded female dorm on 1st floor stunk when I checked in due to mess, food, drink, smelly shoes & flipops, and belongings strewn all over the floor. The room needed a steam clean and a revamp, too, and was a horrible space. I couldn't stay in it, so the staff very kindly moved me to a 6 bedded mixed dorm, which was a much fresher, newer dorm with a clean modern bathroom. Have to leave a 5 euro cleaning deposit. If you are young and not too particular about the more modern boutique type hostels and are happy with a 'nice enough' place, then this is for you. Your dorm experience all depends who you share with, of course, but if this hostel gave people a list of some basic rules as they checked in ie. no food in rooms, keeping belongings in lockers, disposing of rubbish outside of rooms properly, keeping own space tidy/ own towels in own space, use headfones when listening to music and social media and reminding people not to spray deodorants etc in common areas but in bathrooms as the shared space is small, keeping aircon on etc then people wouldnt make so much mess and all hostel-goers would enjoy. Older, more seasoned hostel-goers would not enjoy. No privacy curtains, so waking up staring at someone's hairy backside is not pleasant. Privacy curtains are what good hostels are putting in now. Showers pressy type every 20 seconds and not powerful so not a really enjoyable experience. I would recommend the dorm I got in the end for couple of nights, but definately would not have the first one, so maybe check first.
Location second to none could not be better for Las Ramblas/ shops, cafes, beach etc. The two staff members at the desk Piedro and the girl were very nice indeed and the staff very kindly moved me to another room when I couldn't stay in first one and were very good about it. The second room on 3rd floor was nice, fresh, and comfortable with a clean, bright bathroom. Sheets were nicely laundered and mattress comfy. Lift up to top floors. 24/7 desk and open bright entrance to hostel. Kettle, microwave, etc, and fridge to store and cook simple meals

SpainNo AC because the one there was a button doing nothing. I had to take a shower before going to bed and after waking up. Roomies rather noisy and impolite. Should find a way to get bathroom floor dry after taking a shower besides ruining a towel for that. I don't get how can shower gel not be free ... I've seen it in other hostels in Belgium but in Spain?? Because even if wasted a whole big bottle is cheap enough for 8 people in a room. I'd add a place to hang towels to dry
Location was very suitable for my trip plan. Liked the private bathroom. Loved the locked drawer and the place for electronics next to the pillow. Also, even though I didn't do it, having several tours organised by the hostel was great to know (for tourist and party matters)
