Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBathroom had toothpaste smears on the counter, toilet brush sitting in yellow water, so it could have been a bit cleaner. Everything else seemed clean. Bed was very comfortable but I would have liked a top sheet between me and the comforter.
Supper friendly staff, great area recommendations, very comfortable and spacious room, TV, hot water, coffee.

CanadaWe loved the location and the guesthouse! We were going to stay in the middle of busy neighborhood and once we saw how busy Lisbon was we were so happy to have booked a place on a quieter street! We could easily walk everywhere and the Tram 28 stopped out front. The owner was very friendly and gave us great recommendations of places to go. We luckily found free parking right outside! The guesthouse felt safe and clean- bathrooms and rooms were cleaned daily. We had our own bathroom across the hall- it was small but was totally functional and had everything we needed! The only thing we thought the room needed was a mini-fridge as there was no access to a kitchen. Luckily there was a fridge in the common area. We would definitely stay at Ritz and Freud again!

HungaryThe only drawback of the accommodation was the size of the room, which was quite small. It's more suited for a single traveler, and though manageable for two, space was definitely tight. However, the overall experience was overwhelmingly positive.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this accommodation in Lisbon, and I can't recommend it enough! The location was fantastic, easily accessible and close to many local attractions. The owner was exceptionally accommodating, going above and beyond by meeting me after hours due to a delayed flight and promptly providing a second set of keys upon request. His helpful advice truly enhanced our experience in Lisbon. A special shout-out goes to the cleaning staff; despite the chaos we left each morning, we returned each evening to a spotless room. Their daily efforts to organize and clean were deeply appreciated and added so much comfort to our stay. The WiFi connection was flawless, ensuring we stayed connected without any issues. This accommodation is a gem in Lisbon, thanks to its stellar service and prime location!

SwitzerlandWe stayed at the Guest House for 4 nights and were very positively surprised. The staff was really nice. Andrea met up with us to give the keys and show the place and she also gave us lots of tips on where to go and how to get around in the city. The place was also located very well. City centre was walking distance and the tram 28 stop was right in front of the place. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. They also cleaned our room every day and on the last night they even left us some Porto Wine to try. All in all we were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back!

CanadaWould have preferred to have one of the rooms with an ensuite washroom; it was inconvenient to have to cross the hall.
The hosts were very welcoming and helpful, plus the location was great for our needs.

AustraliaOur stay was too short!
We arrived late as our plane was delayed. Jose made a special trip to open the accommodation and introduce us to the room. He was fabulous and very generous with his time. The room exceeded our expectations. Generous in size with a very well designed ensuite and thoughtfully decorated . It was exceptionally presented and double glazed doors to balcony kept street noise to a minimum. A laminated information card gave us some great tips on places to visit and things to do. Room was serviced thoroughly each day. This is one of those places you are tempted to ‘keep quiet about’ as we may find it booked out when next we return to Lisbon and wish to stay there again! We can do nothing but recommend this property as exceptional.

SwitzerlandI didn't realize the guest house was at the bottom of a very large hill. Walking up it all the time to get to town was not the best, so I took the tram and/or walked down to Cais do Sodre metro/train station which took only 15 minutes and it is flat. But if you don't walking uphill, this place is really well located. It is only 15 minutes from the center or to transport that can get you there, and yet is still quiet. The neighborhood itself feels more local than touisty, and I really liked that.
Loved Jose - so accomodating and kind. Very kind. Took the time to explain things even though he's probably done it a million times. The wifi wasn't working, and to apologize he left me a small dram of porto. The room is older and others have complained it is noisy because of the tram passing. This did not bother me at all.

SerbiaMaybe someone will not stand the tram sound from 6 AM. Rails go directly under the balcony. 😁 We didn't mind.
Great location, about 10 - 15 minutes from the city center, near the tram, bus, metro, train stations. Our room was small, but comfortable with a private bathroom. If you are a tourist like we are, you won't need anything more than a good bed and a shower after a long walk through Lisbon.

United KingdomI saw a review that said you could hear the trams. We were in the room Hannah and the noise was so faint, I barely heard it when awake.
The property was really well-located. It was really easy to get to all the main areas from here. It's slightly away from the main tourist areas, so also had more of a local feel. The Timeout market is nearby and the famous 28 tram.

SpainThe private bathroom was in front of the room, which I was aware and that's ok. But the small! OMG, it's like someone has died there! They are trying to hide it with a may-lily parfum, but in the morning, after the bathroom was not in use all-night-long, the parfum has vanished and this smell appeared. Very poor noise isolation.
It's good for one night.
