There were 3 heaters in the room, so definately warm enough to anyone's liking if you needed. Room onsen was nice. Food was in a private dining room for dinner and breakfast. There was a very nice lounge to relax in as well. There is a public cave onsen that was quite special. In winter, roads may have snow and need to be wary if driving in.

Built in 1722, Okyakuya is situated in the historical district of Kurokawa Onsen district. Located only 100 metres from Kurokawa Onsen, Free WiFi is provided and private parking is available on site. Excellent and friendly service from beginning to end. Room was very clean, the different baths were wonderful. It was the first time I’ve tried an onsen where I could stand up; it was 1.3m deep. There are private baths available too. Loved the welcome snack which was rice cookies using rice which the ryokan grows - I bought a bag home. The lack of hot water during winter didn’t bother me at all, in fact I prefer the warm water jug that was provided. The ryokan is near a bridge over the river for a good photo spot. It’s also near a restaurant with very good Akaushi beef. We had taken a bus to Kurokawa; the ryokan is fairly near the bus stop, though there is a long flight of steps down, which I managed to lug the luggage down. After check out, the staff offered to help with the luggage up the stairs to the bus stop.

Minshuku Asogen se nachází v Asu, 29 km od stadionu Egao Kenko Kumamoto, 38 km od hradu Kumamoto a 38 km od parku Suizenji. Best Japan experience so far. Everything was great, from the room, the food (dinner + breakfast), the private onsen rooms till the parking in from of the hotel. The welcome was very friendly and relaxed. Everything was explained very clearly.

Hanare no Yado Hanagokoro se nachází v destinaci Minamioguni. Sopka Aso se nachází 40 km daleko a Jezero Kinrinko 49 km. Extraordinary Ryokan in a very remote location. The food was very good and the people were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan má 5 termálních lázní, včetně 30metrové jeskynní lázně. We spent 3 nights at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihonbashi Kayabacho hotel after arriving in Japan (There is another Fresa Inn in the area, so make sure this is where you have your reservation). It is a relatively modern, functional hotel sometimes referred to as a business hotel.  The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very small as is typical in Tokyo but very clean and functional.  The hotel is convenient to Tokyo station (20 minutes walking as a reference). After arriving on the Narita Express or by others means to Tokyo station, follow signs to the Tozai line (sky blue) subway. The easiest way to know which direction to go is to look at the numbers representing the stops.  The Tokyo station stop at Otemachi is T-9 and you want to go to T-7 Kayabacho. Leave the Kayabacho subway station via Exit 7 and the hotel is just around the corner.  From Kayabaco or the nearby Nihonbashi station, you can get all around Tokyo on the highly efficient subway system.  Use a Suica, Welcome Suica or Pasmo card to enter and exit subways and avoid the hassle of figuring out which ticket to buy or how much they coat. Just tap and go.  Enjoy. Kokura,Onsen EXPERIENCE JAPAN LIKE THE JAPANESE We decided to spend a couple of days in central Kyushu to enjoy a traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Boy, was that a great call! I88We stayed at the Yama no Yado Shinmeikan  in the Kokura Onsen area, which is an hour north of Aso city by bus. The ryokan is 130 years old but is clean and well-maintained. It features a total of 5 unique onsens, including one carved into a cave.  The ambiance is terrific and the staff is super friendly and helpful.  The ryokan is located along a flowing river and the sound of running water adds to the relaxing quality of the stay.  (The Fuji room is best). All accommodations are traditional Japanese tatami rooms which are made up for sleep each night by the staff as you enjoy the onsen baths.

Hotel Yumeshizuku se nachází v obci Minami Aso v regionu Kumamoto, 10 km od města Naka-dake, a nabízí termální lázeň a saunu. Všechny pokoje jsou klimatizované a vybavené TV s plochou obrazovkou. The facility is very new (recently just renovated). Excellent onsen (indoor and outdoor). The staffs are well trained and very friendly. The Japanese food was excellent! I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again.

Fumoto Ryokan nabízí tradiční ubytování v japonském stylu s historickým kouzlem a může se pochlubit různými krytými a venkovními termálními lázněmi. Je obklopen klidnou zelení u řeky. Our stay at Fumoto Ryokan was absolutely incredible. The staff did a fantastic job throughout our stay and making sure every detail of the trip was just perfect. Our room had a wonderful view of the adjacent river and was so comfortable and spacious - a nice change of pace after traveling Japans big cities. Even as a very tall guy, they provided me with an appropriate Yukuta and I could enjoy the onsen experience in full. The baths themselves are amazing - both the shared outdoor one and the private bath rooms. There are plenty of the latter, so if you prefer your privacy you‘ll have plenty of options, some of them even with outdoor views. Then there is the food. The courses are absolutely delicious and so plentiful, that we found ourselves struggling to finish all of it sometimes. The quality of the dishes and the presentation is so high, the (not cheap) room price seems very reasonable in hindsight. To sum it up: this was a 10/10 experience and we can’t wait to come back someday.
