Very good standard of accommodation, very spacious clean room and toilet with all required amenities. The open air Onsen too was a lovely experience and had a very good standard. The Japanese garden was also nice. We booked for that Ryokan experience on our holiday and we most certainly enjoyed our stay which was very comfortable.

Massage service is also provided at a surcharge. Luggage storage is offered, while laundry service is offered at an additional charge. Brilliant stay! We loved the authentic ryokan feel with the tatami mats. We booked the kaiseki dinner which I’d highly recommend as it was so delicious. Staff were brilliant, took time to explain everything. The onsen was lovely and my first experience of it in Japan! Room was so spacious and clean. Nice quiet neighbourhood close to subway station.

Gion, Kyoto
Situated a 10-minute walk from lively Kawaramachi area, Kyomachiya Ryokan Sakura Urushitei offers Japanese-style accommodation with modern facilities and traditional design. It provides a tour desk and a bar on the ground floor. Free WiFi is available in all areas. The building itself was very beautiful and nicely decorated. The employees were very friendly and helpful and there was a nice area to sit and eat. There is a private bath that can be booked and costs a few yen, which was really nice to get into after a long day outside, we enjoyed it very much. The rooms are traditional, beautiful and kept exceptionally clean. There is a lot of space for belongings and luggage (though one must be careful not to hurt the tatami), a fridge, and a great bathroom which has everything one might need. Im very happy I got to experience sleeping on a traditional bed in a traditional room. I have to admit the mattress was a bit thin for my back so it wasn't too comfortable at first, my partner on the other hand thought its great so it really depends on preference. However, I asked if i can get an extra layer that I can put under to make it softer, and i got one! Afterwards i was sleeping like a baby, so if it seems a bit stiff at first ask for support :). We also got a lot of information on places in the area, including restaurants, everyone was doing their best to keep our stay as comfortable as possible. It truly is a great place and I have nothing I wish was different. The location is also great, close to the main "centre" and some public transport. It is a very good spot, quite relaxing and quiet considering its proximity to the famous streets. Walking down from Sannenzaka and the area, towards out hotel, is one of our very fond memories. A lot to do nearby, and great restaurants. Thank you for our stay, we had a wonderful time, and we hope we can be back sometime in the future.

Free Wi-Fi access is available at the entire property. It’s a very old Ryokan but it is well maintained. It has its own public bath so you get to experience it without an added cost and it is very convenient. Our room had its own bath too. The dinner was very good, every dish served was good. The Japanese lady who served us was very kind and attentive. I also liked the garden view from the room. The train station is nearby.

Some units in the ryokan have private entrance and are equipped with wardrobe and tatami. Units are complete with a private bathroom, while certain units at the ryokan also provide guests with a seating area. The interior and finish were amazing , the blend of Japanese and Scandinavian furnishings were so elegant. Staying at the traditional Japanese room gave us a true Japanese experience.

This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and free shuttle service. There is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, and free private parking is available. We stayed in a ryokan near Kyoto, and the experience was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond — they even offered to pick us up from Kamioka Station, which we didn’t expect at all. It was such a pleasant surprise. The service throughout our stay was incredible: extremely polite, warm, and genuinely kind. Honestly, the staff deserves 15 out of 10. Our room had a private onsen, and it was amazing. The room itself was in a traditional Japanese style and felt very cozy. The outdoor onsen was especially beautiful — such a unique and relaxing experience. Breakfast was both interesting and delicious. I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for a special stay near Kyoto.

Hi, once i left my comment but disapeared :/ Ok trying once more :D Very nice hote and had tradicinal ryokan, they also provide yukata for everyone, polite staff, they do nice traditional breakfast, also they can organize traditional tea ceremony with renting the kimono. We had very nice stay.
The staff were so helpful and welcoming! I loved getting to wear a Yukata and sleeping on a futon on the tatami floor.
Friednly owners, who allowed us to drop our baggage before the check in, cute ryokan with very comfy futon beds, private onsen is just a plus to the whole experience! Owner suggested us to explore Kyoto at night which was a great idea (magical and no crowds)! We loved the whole experience! Great value for morey, would 100% visit ahain and I have already recommended it so several friends who are travelling Japan
The japanese style of the room reminded us a classical Ryokan. Sleeping on a futon and tatami floor is a great experience. The location of the hotel is perfect because it allows to reach easily the subway and the train station.
Our host / owner of the ryokan, was very warm and friendly and we immediately felt comfortable. We enjoyed the traditional futons, the yukatas and a close encounter with the Japanese family. The dining experience was superb! It is very near Nishiki Market. My family is grateful for the lady host who rode her bicycle to grab a taxi for us for our airport transfer. We couldn't recommend this enough. Grateful.
Amazing experience - Ryokan stay. Proper futon plus tatami sleeping in a large room, especially large when you put aside the tatamis. Makes you wonder why on earth we need the huge useless beds that occupy 60% of a room and make it useless during the day. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The hosts were extremely gracious, and I love that it’s family-owned, in the building they live in! There is lovely tatami in the rooms and pretty comfy futons, with beautiful, minimalist decoration. Yukata and tea were provided for a full, relaxing ryokan stay.
It's a ryokan in a high building where you get yukatas, bento breakfast (beef is best), futons on the floor and a wonderful indoor onsen. We lived there for 3 nights and the best time to vizit the onsen was at 4 pm or about midnight. We walked to Gyon and Kiyomizu-dera, it took about 30-40 min.
If you want to spend a few nights in a real ryokan (not the edulcorated-for-tourist replicas), this might be the real deal. Wooden and paper panels, tatami, futons, internal garden, traditional shower, in-room tea-set, yukatas, and many other details. My kids (14 and 11 y.o) said this was the best hotel in our 3-weeks-trip throughout Japan. The staff is very kind and eager to make your stay great.
