Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths. Best location we stayed at in a 2 week holiday in Japan. The other hotels we used were all conventional ones and we wanted to stay in at least on Ryokan and chose this one. The location is perfect, really close to Zenkoji Temple which is the most historic area in Nagano, with lots of really nice shops to explore. The room was perfect and we really enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast

Staff super friendly and go out of their way to provide an excellent service. The property is traditional and beautiful. Rooms feel very authentic. Beds duvets and pillows are the most comfortable we slept in. Best shower we had in japan so far. Location perfect. Whole stay was perfect.

We had an exceptional experience Futari Shizuka. The staff were very friendly and we had lovely Japanese ladies who personally showed us to our rooms and made tea for us, and offered local Japanese snacks. We had a lovely chat, albeit limited English from them. Dinner and breakfast were served in a private room, food and service were awesome! We had a birthday celebration and they prepared a lovely cake for us. We had such a wonderful stay that we are still reminiscing weeks after our trip.

Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day se nachází v destinaci Nagiso a nabízí pokoje s výhledem na hory. Jen 9,1 km odtud je Otsumago. Truly one of the highlights of our time in Japan. The building, rooms, and onsen are incredible and the hospitality can't be beat. We were caught in a rainstorm before our scheduled pickup and the owners so kindly dried our sopping wet clothes and shoes. After that, we warmed up in the onsen which left our skin feeling so smooth and headed to a delicious and expansive dinner. We finished the night falling asleep to the roaring sound of the waterfall due to the heavy rains. We'll definitely be back.

We were really taken aback by how sumptuous the spread for both dinner and breakfast was. Loved that they used as much of the regional produce in their meals. The three private onsens were great - good and organized system and the space was kept very clean. Staff were really pleasant and great! They also provided complimentary access to the public next door which was a nice touch to the overall experience.
