Spreading for hundreds of kilometres from the mouth of the Oslofjord, Oslo is the largest city by area in Europe and is liberally covered in pristine forests rising up into the outlying hills. South of the unassuming city hall lies a vibrant waterfront known as Aker Brygge, which in summer is full of bustling outdoor restaurants and bars.
For the prettiest buildings head to affluent inner-city suburbs of Frogner and Fagerborg, or admire the traditional Scandinavian wooden houses of Bygdøy and Holmenkollen. Monumental buildings include the Royal Palace which runs daily tours and the Akershus Festning, which is a medieval castle that also served as a military base and provides impressive views of the Oslofjord. Oslo City Hall, or rådhus, offers even more distinctive architecture and it is the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
Nature is never far away in Oslo which is ringed by an archipelago of islands which are extremely popular in summer. Hiking, kayaking and sailing are all easily achievable within the city limits. Just as popular, are the many museums. The national Museum houses Edvard Munch’s famous painting The Scream and Viking Ship Museum containing long-lost relics from Norway’s Viking past.
From downtown Sentrum to the Oslo Airport Gardermoen to the stunning statues in Frogner Park, Booking.com has over 80 hotels and other accommodations available.
all galleries and museums are sensational. Great bars and restaurants. Friendly and sttemtive service. Train from the airport is every ten minutes. If you're used to British trains, this is out of this world.

Oslo is a vivd and modern city.
Oslo is a vivd and modern city. You would hardly find old buildings around it. It's all bout architecture and skyscrapers. So, if you admire modern architecture, it's defenitely a catch.
My favourite sight was the National Gallery with a number of interesting displays and amazing staff who seemed personally involved in enhancing your experience. One more thing to 100% add to your bucket list is theDeichman Bjorvika library.
The unpleasant thing is that similarly to other scandinavian countries the food is pretty expensive in Oslo. So, if one is travelling on a budget, they might need to spend extra time researching affordable food options.
I personally enjoyed the well-developed system for getting around the city by bike. I didn't use the public transport so much, but the express train from the airport seemed very conveneient and nice.
The city seems very diverse like a patchwork quilt. Some districts are distinguished and posh, others are unerground and artsy. During this trip I stayed near the Akerselva river and cannot say it was my favourite experience. The district seemed to noisy and a bit ditry and I thought all of Oslo was like this until I started discovering other areas.

I'm sure its a nice and liveable city if you're a local, but...
I'm sure its a nice and liveable city if you're a local, but in terms of tourist attractions, it doesn't have a lot compare to other major European cities. BUT it also depends on what you're looking for. I think for more urban/human centric activities (which is what i like) it lacks compare to other cities, but for more nature stuff its def a good choice!

Oslo is an amzing city to visit, to explore and see so much.
Oslo is an amzing city to visit, to explore and see so much. The hotel we stayed in was central, not far from the train station, quite close to the harbour and museums.
I would recommend that you purchase an Oslo pass. We purchased an Oslo pass for three days and we got our moneys worth.
As our hotel provided breakfast, fika(coffee and cake in the afternoon) and dinner we did not eat anywhere, apart from buying some cakes from a baker shop.
As long as you have a good map you should be fine.
As for museums to visit: the Nordic Bible museum, the armed forces and castle, the history museum, the ski jump and so much more.
If you are travellling by plane to Oslo airport, use the express train, only takes about 20 minutes. Oslo is well worth a visit.

Not the cleanest city in the world, but fine.
Not the cleanest city in the world, but fine. People are not talkative and they are rather reserved, but they are trying to be helpful when needed. A lot of beautiful places to go, including parks, other 'nature' centres, restaurants. Great public transportation. People speak great English. Mind that everything is rather expensive. I would most certainly visit again.

Perfect place to go and relax , people are nice food is too good, location of apartment is best well connected with transportation I highly recommend this. Neat and clean place with no Hassel, it was very easy to reach here stay here
It is very easy to find the hotel, just a few cross from central station, the hotel located among the city center so we can find everthing we need around here, along the way to hotel is alomost flat which is easily roll our big luggage. The room is clean, the size is good and the bed is comfy, the facilities inside is enough. We enjoy their variety of breakfast for everyday, it is great ! They have the luggage room to serve with no charge and lastly, their staffs are nice and friendly, surely next time we will stay here again ^ ^
There is an excellent breakfast buffet and in a country like Norway where restaurant food is expensive, this was a great feature. As well, we had a twin bedroom which was in a remodeled part of the hostel and had its own shower and toilet for an extra $15. The hostel is on the No. 17 tram from the RR station so, aside from the 5-8min walk to get there, it is actually quite convenient. I must add that Thor and the other desk staff were always very friendly and helpful!
We arrived at midnight and checked in to Anker Hotel, the receptionist was so kind to give us a temporary room to stay just for that night to avoid disturbing our 2 friends who were already in the booked room.
There is also a corner of "Free food" where you can take (those were leftovers from the guests).
They have luggage room for free.
The location is close to the city center or central station.
There are lots of places to eat in the area and supermarkets.
I have stayed in 9 different hotels during my trip to Norway, and I can say this one is the best. The rooms are spacious enough, modern facilities, you have sockets near the bed and you can turn off all the lights with a central switch near the bed, which is extremely comfortable. The breakfast buffet is excellent with plenty of choices, they can prepare special omelets and offer a good coffee. The location is very central, just next to Munch Museum.
Luxury hotel! Huge (aka, American sized king) bed with all the pillows and a huge bathroom with separate jacuzzi style tub and walk in shower. We were splurging, and it was worth it. Not to mention the staff was very friendly and the location was great. A close walk to lots of high end restaurants and only a 10-15 minute walk to Oslo city center. If you want to treat yourself, I would definitely recommend.
I travel a lot and this was one of the smartest hotel I stayed. You can rent an umbrella or power bank with a touch of a card and even shower tray had underfloor heating.
The room was very quiet with great soundproofing and the bed was very comfortable.
Fast and stable internet, enough to have video calls and work remotely.
Great location in the city centre close to the train station.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. Location was excellent, being very central in the city centre. My room was spotless. The breakfast was very substantial, with a huge choice. The breakfast room, and indeed other communal area environments, were very pleasant and comfortable. I would certainly use this hotel again and recommend it without hesitation.
The apartment is located near to Oslo Bus terminal & Oslo Sentral. Very strategic for tourists as the main city attractions is not far.
We love the view from our room. We were located at Building 31, Level 7. We have REMA 1000 (Norway convenience store) next to our apartment. Easy to find / purchase groceries.
I would recommend it to others.
The hotel is situated perfectly in the city center. We were very pleased by the location. Also the beds were very comfortable. If you want to spend some time at the hotel to relax, you can self-serve some tea or coffee (compliments of the hotel) and drink it in your room or in the restaurant.
The room was in great condition. The hotel is in an excellent location being walking distance to the major attractions in Oslo. The breakfast is amazing. On par with or better than most 5 star hotels. There's a great variety of food.
The place is an historical building expanded to a modern hotel. we had splendid 24 hours there and everything was perfect. the staff was super helpful and we felt at home with all the comfort of a 5 star hotel!
Perfect breakfast, very closed to city center, very nice and clean room. Director was more than helpful , solved our problem with parking. Thank you again for support. Really recomended this hotel.
Very conveniently located. We were able to check in early which was appreciated.
No frills hotel but great value especially considering Norway prices. Would stay here again if visiting!
Breakfast was very good, large selection of food items. Location of hotel was centrally located near train station and many attractions which were in walking distance.
