Fantastic experience, staying in such an amazing old Inn. Loved seeing the seagull with her 3 chicks on the roof right outside the window of our double room. The single room was atmospheric, with its old black timbers.

The setting was beautiful. Lovely building and garden. The staff were fab friendly and informative. Room was gorgeous. Bed amazingly comfy. Nice tea and coffee area. Heating good. Very close to Gloucester Quay but far enough away that you felt like you were out in the country. Would 100% come back and stay. It was our first night away together as a couple we were given late check out and was requested to have a bottle of complimentary fizz which we didn't get. Just would be a nice little touch.

We liked the old town which was very pretty but not pretentious. A bit run down in places but lots of new developments too, eg the Gloucester Docks. Lots of independent pubs and restaurants, not overpriced. Friendly people. Lots of history. Everything really close to centre and quiet for a city (except for the seagulls)!

Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see. Good transport links to other towns - Worcester and Tewkesbury. Docks area is attractive with restaurants, bars etc. and the area around the cathedral has some nice shops, tea rooms etc.

It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway.
I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss.
Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place
After booking, noticed guest needed photo id. Guest did not have but was able to discuss with booking.com who contacted Central Hotel, and agreed debit card and birth certificate would be sufficient. Room was as requested, a disabled room 004. The late check out was helpful, because of the bus times leaving Gloucester. Guest will want to visit again and on checking on leaving, we were informed that she can book directly and pay with debit card, this is helpful so it does not involve a third party.
Lovely clean room and convenient location to where we wanted to visit. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was at the front of the hotel so if the window was open it was alittle noisy due to being next to a main busy road but when it was closed we didn't hear anything. Aircon in the room was fab. Considering we paid a cheap price for the room it was much better than I expected. We had a comfortable stay and would come again if we visited Gloucester another time.
Lovely spacious room and en-suite with everything I needed. Replenishments were readily available if needed.
The hotel was so interesting with lots of information on the walls about Gloucester - wish I'd had more time to read them all! All rooms were named after 'Edwards' which was a nice touch and there was plenty of information too on the different Edwards.
Very handily placed for Gloucester and easy to find.
The room was bijou, but had everything you'd need in a hotel room. The bath towels were a generous size and the extra blanket was very useful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I didn't have the breakfast, but did have dinner in the bar; the Friday fish & chips deal was superb and good value for money. If I'm ever back in Gloucester I would definitely stay at The Thatch Inn again.
I didn't pay a lot of money for this stay. The Room was a little basic, but just about big enough. It had a decent shower. The Breakfast Room was OK with a decent selection of foods (like corn flakes and toast) which you can access at anytime. There was Free Parking available opposite the Hotel. Overall, you get what you pay for and this budget accommodation was exactly that !
The front of the hotel was extremely picturesque, warm welcome on arrival and departure by the receptionists.
Evening meal in the restaurant was amazing.
Public areas (bar and snugs) were comfortable.
The location worked for us a short distance to drive to Cheltenham or Gloucester.
It was very nice place. Very comfortable. Walkable to town, bus and train station. Had a nice view from our window. I would definitely come here again on our yearly trip to gloucester.
Staff was wonderful friendly and the light breakfast was perfect
Very central and comfortable no frills hotel. The staff accommodated our early arrival by taking our bags and placing them into the room when it was ready while we went to the rugby match, so that was very much appreciated.
Our hosts, Jean and Keith, were very welcoming so our stay felt like home from home. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of home-made or home-grown produce. Great location for Gloucester centre. Comfortable room.
Breakfast was excellent, dinner meals excellent, room was large and comfortable, very clean. Love the old building and pub. I would recommend you stay here if looking around Gloucestershire area.
