The staff were lovely, the food is incredible and the room room was clean, well laid out, comfortable and in a great location. The shower had fantastic water pressure. There is a convenient car park across the road where 24 hours parking was £14.

Angela, the owner is very welcoming to her guests. She happily allowed us to use the garage to store the m’bike safely overnight off the road. Angela also arranged a table at the nearby Hest Bank Inn for dinner for us, most kind. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and all cooked fresh.

Charming historic city with lots to see and do.
The city is home to two universities and has over 20,000 students staying at any time so the city is vibrant diverse and appealing.
A stone throw from the Lake District and Morcomb so a really great base for moving about but a wonderful city to move in with an abundance of enjoyable attractions, a central bus station to attractions and a main railway station.
Lancaster is a really wonderful city.

Very conveniently located for access to the M6 motorway,...
Very conveniently located for access to the M6 motorway, into Lancaster itself, into Morecambe but also inland into the countryside.
Rooms are the usual fare – clean and tidy but long corridors and a bit soulless.
Food is good.
Remember to register your vehicle registration otherwise you get a parking ticket. We weren't told this and have had to appeal against the ticket. If we lose it's a £100 fine.

I went to university here.
I went to university here. Lancaster is a handsome Northern city. NOT particularly pretty but with lots of architectural interest. The food at 'The Merchants' and 'The Quarterhouse' is excellent - and contrasting. It needs good restaurants and both of these are, in there own way, remarkable. Jay Rayner did a fantastic review of 'The Merchants' in The Guardian. He was right. Brilliant food in a nice setting right in the middle of town and also amazing value. It is 'pub prices' for really sophisticated, but 'wholesome' food. BOTH MUST survive, please.

I lived in Lancaster for almost 20 years and I love it.
I lived in Lancaster for almost 20 years and I love it. I still live locally and I went to the hotel as a reward/treat to myself after a significant loss in my life. Lancaster is quite a compact city which is crammed with history and culture and independent shops.

Had a guided tour of the castle which was very interesting.
Had a guided tour of the castle which was very interesting. We also visited the Abbey adjacent. We also like the promenade walk along the River Lune which is easily accessible from the hotel. Lancaster is built on hills so for the mobility limited it can be difficult to walk around. We drove directly to the castle car park for blue badge holders. We ate all meals in our hotel.

normal shopping in the city has declined .
normal shopping in the city has declined .
It seems to be just coffee shops and Barbers.
if you are a tourist there is the castle to look around and the museum only.
if you are a student or like a drink, there is lots of student accommodation
and lots of bars and a few nightclubs
Picture perfect cottage with original fireplace and oak beams , as well as a well tended garden looked after by a neighbour. Sally, the host, is so lovely and made us very welcome with enough for a cuppa to get us settled. The local shop was a couple of minutes walk and the Black Bill in at the bottom of the street. we also had a meal in The Station Hotel with family who live in Lancaster and everyone, including the 7 and 2 x12 year olds. We will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful stay for my birthday recently at The Sun Hotel & Bar. Received an upgrade to an extremely spacious and comfortable luxury double room. A stone’s throw from the town centre and Lancaster’s pubs and bars, yet is set off the main road so is nice and quiet in the bedroom. Had both an evening meal and breakfast which were both delicious, served by friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend!
Fabulous apartment in great location for centre of Lancaster. The apartment was large and had everything we needed for a great stay including parking which was a bonus. It was good value for money given the cost of hotel accommodation in the local area. It was spotlessly clean and we were fortunate to be able to get in ahead of check in time. I would not hesitate to recommend and hope to return.
Don’t think I’ve ever stopped anywhere quite so welcoming and cheerful. Everyone was so happy and helpful. The hotel was lovely, comfortable and convenient for the university, leisure facilities were lovely and the breakfast and service at breakfast were superb. I just hope my son chooses Lancaster uni to study at so I can stop again soon!
Lovely and cozy apartment, there’s everything you might need plus the service you would get from a hotel (room cleaned and towels changed everyday). Perfectly located, just 10 mins from the railway station, 2 mins from the bus station, and in the very centre of Lancaster. Highly recommend!
The room was larger than expected, spotlessly clean and the mattress was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on! The location of the hotel was a short drive into the town centre and also near the motorway. Great value for money with friendly, helpful and welcoming staff!
The location is great as its right in the centre of Lancaster, the place looks great, staff were great and the room was lovely, best shower I have ever had in a hotel room as well. It was immaculately clean and there are many restaurants and tourist places nearby the hotel.
The welcome was amazing, the room was beautiful, decor out of this world, the food was 5 star, Shame I only stayed one night!
I will definitely be booking again
One of the best hotels I have stayed in.
N wadI stayed for two nights.. as a stop before Windermere from Manchester.. The hotel location was just good! Few minutes away from the centre of Lancaster.. the rooms were spacious, clean and nice..
The hotel is a stone's throw from Lancaster University. The staff are incredibly friendly. Breakfast was very good. The bed is very comfortable and the hotel was very quiet so we slept well.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, while the room was pristine, clean and spacious. The hotel is in an excellent location from which to explore Lancaster.
The people were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel is old with a little history, but the rooms have been refurbished and are decorated very nicely.
A lovely, clean holiday home in an excellent location to enjoy Lancaster from. Loved the decor. Excellent communications. We will happily book from Caroline again.
Stated in Lancaster for a night out, was cheaper than getting a taxi for us. Hotel central and can come and go as you like. Clean bedrooms, good shower.
