Rainy season is not the best time to go if you want a beach holiday at one of the town's resorts. Rivers are poluted with all kinds of rubbish which eventually wash onto the beaches and into the sea. Great big Shoprite was a bonus - very competitive prices. Deep Sea fishing was a highlight - Used #Islandadventurecharters. Ask for Hugo Vermeulen. Snorkling was the best we've seen - but need to take a boat to the island where the coral is mostly undisturbed. Hotel Nautilus has the best food in town and also enjoyed the food at Pieter's place. Roads are in a shocking state. We had to use taxi's to take us to more suitable beaches located south of Pemba City..
