Wels is only 55,000 people but it feels like a much larger place in terms of what there is to see and do. It dates from the 1100s and there are many traces of the Roman occupation, with hundreds of beautiful old buildings, nice gardens, excellent restaurants and for those who are interested, shopping. There are hundreds of mles of bike oaths leading out into the countryside and more hiking possibilities than you could do in a month.

This little town is well located on the Austrian side of the German Austrian border.
We chose Wels as our night stay town while travelling through Germany to Croatia.
It is easy to get around, the city center offers many dining and shopping alternatives.

Although, Wels has nothing special to see, you can do many things in the area. I would recommend to rent a car and visit the surroundings.
I want to recommend the Gösser Bräu on Kaiser-Josef-Platz, it is really a good eat.

Wels is easily accessible on the main Vienna to Salzburg railway line. Good facilities in town for hotels and shops.
The cities main attractions are the older parts of the town centre, the parks, walks by the river and small town atmosphere. A visit can be accomplished in less than a day.

Wels is a mix of the old and new.
Wels is a mix of the old and new.
Big industrial centre but also historical aspects.
Although a small historical centre the town has many charming features.
Such as the castle,, Stadplatz, churches, multiculti restaurants and the Muehlbach river with its ducks and fish and clear pure water.
Wels people are also very welcoming to strangers.
Clean, well maintained and modern hotel. I stayed 5 days in a suite with a kitchenette, I loved it. Bed (including pillows and blanket) was super comfortable. Shower had great water pressure. House cleaning was everyday, except on Saturday.
Great breakfast every morning from 6:30-10 am on weekdays (note it’s not part of the hotel’s restaurant that is closed on the weekends), 7-10 on weekends, totally worth the extra 15 euros. The restaurant in the hotel was pretty decent, we ate there twice. Free parking.
The location was excellent for my work purposes. Other than that, not happy. The description given on Booking was misleading, however the owner did state that this was due to Booking.com's limited input questions, causing the indescrepencies.
It had been renovated so looked nice. It had a nice dining table and a good sized TV.
Once I complained about the cleanliness etc, they did send someone to clean and provide new sponges, and clean tea towels.
I have never been to a hotel more ofthen than this one. It is the best choice in Wels just because it's very clean, the location is central, the breakfast is delicious (you can't ask for more) and the stuff is nice. There is also a restaurant and a big terrace in case you want to eat lunch or dinner there. Always very busy, you need a reservation before you go. 😉
After a week in Croatia and Slovenia, this was hotel heaven! The quality of the bed linen and the design details in the room were wonderful. And there was none of the ambient noise from a/c or electrics you get in most modern hotels.
I arrived late, but the receptionist recommended a local pizzeria where I manged to have a good meal after 10pm.
We stayed for one night only but it was all perfect. I really liked the place it looks also very cosy!
Very clean room and super easy check-in. The staff was very helpfull and friendly at all times.
Parking in front of the hotel was super easy and free of cost on Saturday night.
We stayed just for one night. Modern and comfortable managed hotel with funded and pleasant stuff. Parking lot is situated underground .There is a parking fee 9 Euro . Breakfast was good, everything fresh and tasty. Everything very clean . The chocolate heart when we left :-)
Very good breakfast, rooms clean, modern and quiet. Large parking lot. Staff friendly. Fair price for the period/location. I fully recommend this hotel. Wels is a wonderful small city. Don't miss the nearby Zoo (very close to the hotel).
Very centrally located. Excellent location. Nice boutique hotel with comfortable and clean rooms, good breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Next time in Wels, Upper Austria, we'll stay at this hotel.
Friendly lady at the entrance. Very clean and orderly. The building is accessible without assistance meaning you can come and go as you please. The shared bathrooms are clean, towels are provided.
They don't have wheelchair accessible rooms and the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible at all! If you're looking for a wheelchair friendly hotel, that's not the one you look for!
The staff is great and the breakfast is very good. For us the location was very convenient in the center next to the train station. Just a very nice hotel.
