Book somewhere else, cabin 12 was a rundown shed.

Book somewhere else, cabin 12 was a rundown shed. Book at Karumba Point, much more variety of good accommodation. We checked out earlier than our booking was and left. Choose something else. Karumba Point is a nice area and you have to enjoy fishing. Make sure you look at the map of Karumba and go and stay at Karumba Point...

Wow! This is the gulf! What a fantastic place!

Wow! This is the gulf! What a fantastic place! We were disappointed that the pool was closed for the winter; this is how we do our aerobic exercise. Up north, the pool water temperatures in winter are about the same as those of Victoria in the early or very late summer - cool, but bearable. North Queenslanders just don't like swimming in these temperatures. We didn't pre-book the Ferryman tour, nor the other one that is available. So, we missed out. Did the barra tour - great! We went to the pub at the point and watched the sunset. Unforgettable! Yup! there is nothing like North Queensland!

    It's a very remote community.

It's a very remote community. It was great to see how people live out there and the difficulties they experience. Especially in the wet season when they can be cut off for months. We went on the ferryman tour which was great. We also visited the barramundi centre. Very interesting and worth a visit. Be sure to read about all the wildlife while at the barramundi centre as you will see many of the birds and other creatures in the wild.

A very remote sleepy outback town with thousands of potoroos and great seafood especially Gulf prawns. A must-visit, to see how Aussies live in challenging environments featuring crocs, beautiful sunsets, great fishing, incredibly low lying land for hundreds of KMs and regular "dry floods" that can isolate the town for weeks on end.
