Pomonal is a lovely option to staying at busy Halls Gap - close enough to enjoy the hiking and rural walks, but very peaceful.
Plenty of wildlife - kangaroos, emus and deer not to mention beautiful birds.
The General Store has everything you need, and a very thoughtful self help library of books and puzzles and seeds.
Barneys Bistro was quite different but great 'pub' meals and Pomonal Estate has excellent snacks and platters and wine, cider and beer tasters. The kids menu was healthy and probably the best choices we have seen - with fruit and vegetables and chips - kids loved it.
