The resort is about 2 miles into the rainforest. There are hiking trails around and the overall setting is great.
The food is good and the personal friendly. The road to the resort was flooded when we left, but the personal was very helpful with a shuttle and carrying the luggage over the suspension bridge - thank you for that.

This very nice lodge sits at a very convenient but also beautiful location en route to Tortuguero from San Jose. The large rooms have a lovely balcony with a very nice view over the grounds and valley. Even though we arrived late, a lovely meal was prepared for us and put in the room for us to enjoy after a very long trip. Breakfast was amazing but the true stars are the owners/ staff

I would deffinately come back. The room/bungalow was just like on pictures. Good sleep, no mosquitos:)) Salamander itself is a very nicely preserved garden or peice of rainforest with multiple trees and flowers. Among others: avocado, mango, star fruit, cocoa. Incredible experience with humming birds flying around you at breakfast as they stop by to drink nectar from flowers right next to the terrace.
