The hotel is situated near the city centre, so I could reach everything on foot. Check in and out were easy, there is a parking lot and a snack automat in the lobby. All in all everything was okay.

Fantastic location, cheap rates, great food, and very helpful staff. I didn’t need to charge my motorcycle but those with EV’s will appreciate the 4 chargers available and all were in use by Tesla’s of various flavours. I will be back here some day

Located on the banks of the Fulda River in Germany’s Hessen region, Kassel was re-built after World War II where most of the city’s architectural history was destroyed. Although alot was destroyed, Kassel still features many prominent landmarks such as Königsplatz Kassel, which is a public square, the astronomy and physical cabinet of Orangerie and the splendid Town Hall Kassel.
Separating the city from the surrounding Hawk Forest is the stunning Wilhelmshöhe Palace and its adjoining Wilhelmshoehe Bergpark which features picturesque gardens, museums and the Ball House at the Wilhelmshoehe Palace.
Kassel has a variety of dining and entertainment options from the traditional Brauhaus to local and international restaurants, to appealing bars and cafés in the vicinity of Königsplatz Kassel.
The must-see museums of the city are the 18th-century Kunsthalle Fridericianum, the oldest public museum in Europe, and the famous fairy-tale Museum Brothers Grimm, who once called Kassel home.
Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation options in Kassel and across the Hessen region. Kassel Central Station offers direct routes to cities such as Frankfurt, Warburg and Eichenberg.
Attractive smaller city. It's almost unknown in Britain, but it has a five-year modern art festival called Documenta, which we had never heard of, lots of other attractions and green spaces - the Bergpark is a 'must' - and the people seem friendly. Then we spent our final day in ghastly Frankfurt, and wished we had stayed in Kassel.

The Weihnachsmarkt had a very nice atmosphere with good food and drinks. The city center has all the usual shops. Grimmwelt is a very extensive museum with a nice (but expensive) restaurant.
The annoying thing about Kassel is that they close a lot of things during certain periods of time. This is the second time we went and the planetarium was closed on both occasions (March and December). The Marmorbad was also closed. In March a few of the museums were closed.
If you want to go for a swim we recommend the Auebad. Mind, though, that the slides close in the evening (Kassel tradition, I guess?).

City itself is not so remarkable, but the downtown area and the Christmas market are nice. We stopped briefly at the Grimm World Museum but didn't have time to go through it. We found some good restaurants.

I've been to Kassel three times, each time for Documenta.
I've been to Kassel three times, each time for Documenta. I love the city, though it's hard to put into words exactly why. It has a great mix of the modern and the old (though mostly modern, because of its being unfortunately bombed during WWII), and lots of greenery (parks etc). Great public transportation. Lots of cultural stuff going on.
On the other hand, I think they should improve their bicycle lanes: they're often mixed use on the sidewalk, but it's not always clear where (or if) the bicycles should be riding.
The hotel was ideally situated close to the station and to public transport into the city centre and the Kassel travel card provided by the hotel was an extra bonus! The location was very calm, our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the delicious breakfasts. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with a particular mention for Phil and his colleagues on the front desk who made sure that our every need was catered for. We hope to be back again soon!
It is a cute little hotel (or rather a pension). There are not many rooms, only about eight or so, and a shared kitchen, bathroom, shower room and toilet. The shared facilities are immaculate. In the kitchen, you can find everything you need to make a cuppa or even cook a simple meal. It feels like home. The street is nice and quiet, close to the centre of Kassel. You can reach it in 25 minutes on foot. Overall, a great place to stay.
Room was very clean. WiFi was very good. They provided bottled drinking water, which not many hotels in Germany do.
It may not be near the Wilhelmhöhe station that you should go to but tramways come often and the stop is not far from the hotel. Failed to try the very good value-for-money breakfast guests have been raving about because we had to leave earlier than when the breakfast starts.
We liked it so much that we decided to stay an extra night. Modern, spacious room with coffee machine and water. Very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast and very friendly staff. The neighborhood is quiet and close to the Hercules Monument which is a must see when you visit Kassel. The tram stops next to the hotel and will take you straight to the city.
A charming small hotel, with only a dozen rooms. The room (top floor) was generously sized, and very comfortable, with a nice view. Great location, right next to the entrance to the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe (a UNESCO heritage site). Very nice breakfast. Friendly and and courteous staff.
I loved the atmosphere and authenticity of the building. The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful.
Renthof has a superb restaurant but book early because it is very popular.
It was a great hotel, so clean and just a walking distance (about 7-10 min) to Documenta, which was my main purpose of visit. I needed to change my dates of stay and they quickly accommodated that as well. Highly recommend!
The hotel is easy to get by bus or tram. It is very comfortable, it has a refrigerator and a kettle.
Tram 4 stop at the front, easy to visit Hércules monument, Bergpark and city center.
The bathroom is small.
The hotel is well connected both to the centre and the Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe station via tram. The receptionist was very helpful and the room was basic but spacious with a nice terrace, pity it was raining.
Spacious room. Anna at the front desk was very prompt to answer questions and explained everything well. Hotel is close to lots of good restaurants and cafes. Walking distance to interesting sights.
Very adorable hotel in a quiet part of Kassel. Very close to the castle. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
nice to have an upgrade to suit.
breakfast was good.
ticket for trams during the stay free of charge.
parking on street in the hotel’s neighborhood is free of charge.
The room was clean and well-equipped. The hotel is right next to the station "Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe" and thus optimal for travelers. Staff was very friendly.
