The outside spa area is this hotels jewel in the Crown, with great views of the castle and mountains in the distance. we experienced it on a Sunny Day so were able to lounge in the Sun and pop in and out of jacuzzi and swimming pool. In poor weather this is going to be a very different experience.

We stayed in Füssen for one night.
We stayed in Füssen for one night.
We spent the next day visiting the castle. There were a lot of tourists, and the tickets for the castle were booked out.
We came to show the kids, but probably wouldn’t have gone to the top if it was just my husband and I.
Lots of overpriced gift shops, and very much geared for tourism…

Beautiful hiking trails.
Beautiful hiking trails. You can walk to town and Neuschwanstein if you are in good shape. Much better than trying to find parking. Beautiful views. I would recommend going late in the evening as there is not that many tourists.

Neuschwanstein is without a doubt one of the most beautiful castles in the world. We stayed for a day to visit both castles, but wished we had stayed longer to see more of the nature around it as well.

It's in a fantastic location and is very peaceful and relaxing. There is a lot to see, not least the castles built by King Ludwig. There are also many lovely walks to take and it's ideal for cycling, as there are lots of cycle tracks. There are lots of superb hotels to chose from, all in good locations and plenty of good restaurants and cafes. The mountains around are beautiful, and one of them has a Tegelbahn (cable car) at the top of which is a very good restaurant and a place for people to hang glide down to the valley below. There are also lots of walks up there with amazing views. Schwangau is close to the town of Fussen, which is well worth a visit and is at the border with Austria. There is also a lake, Forggensee, where there are regular boat trips.

Perfect location for visiting the castles and for hiking.
Perfect location for visiting the castles and for hiking. Gorgeous scenery. We enjoyed a walk to the lake in the evening at the sunset. Getting around Schwangau is easy both by car and by public transport.
Very cute, Bavarian-style hotel right in the middle of Schwangau. Walk (or very short drive) to castles and sights (Neuschwanstein; Hohenschwangau, Wittlesbach Museum) and Alps. Despite its traditional Alpine decor, it had the modern conveniences. Hotel staff was very friendly. Able to walk to some restaurants. I recommend easy hikes/walks around the Forggensee lake in Schwangau and around the Alpsee lake next to Hohenschwangau, both with well marked trails.
Host communication was excellent, and they even washed and dried two loads of washing for us for a small fee, meaning we had more time to relax and enjoy the area. It is a beautiful location, with a walk through snowy fields taking about 20mins to the lower carpark of Neuschwanstein Castle. The supermarket was a 5min drive away, so very convenient, without having to go into Fussen. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable. Highly recommended.
We booked a room with a view. Oh what a view! Neuschwanstein Castle with snow falling on it. The hotel was going to be closed for their Christmas Party the night we arrived. They had been communicating with me via Booking.com Messenger. I was a bit concerned it but it worked out just fine. Our welcome letter was in German (but Google translate helped with that). The room was great and the breakfast was wonderful.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Location is very near to the two castles and you could walk if you are reasonably fit. Breakfast good and free coffee and cake in the afternoon. Rooms spacious. Nice walk into Fussen, better than parking there.
The property is better than the photos show.
Hotel very well located, in a beautiful place 5 minutes from Neuschwanstein Castle and also from the city of Fussen, very polite and friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. It also has a great restaurant for dinner. I would definitely stay at the Waldmann Hotel again.
Excellent position in Schwangau about 25 minutes walk from Forggensee and from the hill that leads up to Neuschwanstein.
The most lovely hotel with super friendly staff ,fabulous spacious rooms and wonderful food. Absolutely loved everything about it.
The location was great, can see NEUSCHWANSTEIN castle view from the hotel, and 1.8km to the ticket center.
Good to stay one night before visit the castles.
Staff are friendly and kind, breakfast is average.
There are swings and sandbox for kids to play.
This hotel was very quaint and in a great location for our visit to the local castles! We were easily able to check in after hours with the provided description. The lounge was very nice with tea and cake to enjoy and parking was very easy.
the bathroom was the best I have ever seen in a hotel, and the rest of the room was so minimalistic and clean and comforting, there was a balcony with an amazing view. by far my favorite hotel I’ve stayed at during my honeymoon
we had a great breakfast Lovely roomy apartment with three bedrooms. view of Neuschwanstein castle and the snow capped mountains from sundeck and set in a lovely picturesque village not far from the quaint old city of Füssen.
We were in the best room of this hotel with a balcony and a view of the castle right from the bed. This makes the trip even more romantic and truly special.
The hotel staff is also very friendly.
excellent breakfast, nice quiet location, old style hotel and a great patio on first floor - travelled with wife and 9 year old daughter and room was great for the three of us
Clean and comfy beds. Nice kitchen to self cater. Garden area with large table. Top location for Neuschwanstein Castle (5 mins drive) and very near to lovely thermal baths.
The location is perfect easy access to the walking paths around the lake and to the castles. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere with very attentive staff.
