Hotel Mirador de la Cepada, hotel in Covadonga

Situated in the heart of Picos de Europa Mountains, in the small town of Cangas de Onís, Hotel La Cepada features free Wi-Fi and free private parking.

Great quiet location overlooking the town so away from the traffic of the town centre but still only a 20 minute stroll away. The views of the mountains from our room and the terrace/bar was superb. The room was very spacious and bright helped by the floor to ceiling windows. Plenty of choice at breakfast Parking on site with some spaces offered under cover.

A really interesting area that was unexpectedly busy.

A really interesting area that was unexpectedly busy. This is a really popular spot for mainly Spanish tourism as far as I could tell. The monastery was fantastic as were the lakes that really are worth the 9 euro bus ride to get to (the only way up aside from walking or cycling).

A cute tiny city with amazing views. 15-20 mins by bus to the famous Lagos de Covadonga (lakes). I recommend taking bus as the roads are narrow and might be difficult to drive. There are restaurants, hotels and free parking. Ideal for those who want to visit Lagos de Covadonga. Also, there is a breathtaking church in the mountains.

We didn't spend much time in the city and went straight to the lakes. make sure to have at least 2 hours there!!! such an amazing view! the lakes themselves, the mountains and the animals (cows and sheep) walking around is just breathtaking. Keep in mind that in peak seasons cars are not allowed to go up to the lakes, and honestly the trip is a bit scary, so you can take the bus or take a taxi with a few people. but take in mind that the taxis only stay there for about 45 minutes and then take you back down, which is just not enough time.

Unfortunately visited at a very busy time-major religious festival as well as still apparently school holidays. The lakes are lovely,as is the surrounding scenery. The buses were good and frequent. The area closest to the buses were quite busy but we were able to walk properly away from crowds.

This is a small rural hotel right across from the Covadonga Sanctuaria. As is typical with small locally-owned hotels, the room is small and simple. The setting is delightful and convenient to the National Park and Congas de Onis (lovely town with some good restaurants). Those who complain about the humidity at the hotel need to understand - it rains a lot here and it’s humid! You can tell from the abundance of ferns and moss! We loved the hospitality, breakfast, and the peace and quiet.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for my trip going to visit Lagos de Covadonga. The deco on the hallway gave a sense of nostalgia, brought back fond memory of my visit to south America. If I have to "complain", it might be the lack of elevator, but, in fact, it is not really an issue because an elevator might have spoiled the elegant atmosphere. Meanwhile, the lady at the front desk was kind enough to help us to bring one luggage to the room.

Great location in the mountains right at the entrance to the Covadonga lakes area where you can pick up the bus ( and buy tickets) or drive into the park - although you have to enter before 7.30am and the road is long, narrow and very twisty so the bus is more relaxing. Also next to the Basilica. Enormous room, bed and bathroom. Quiet.

Best breakfast of our entire trip. We had everything a breakfast should have and more. Different king od breaks, yogurts, cereals, cheese and meats, fresh orange juice, coffee, pastries, potato tortilla, etc. Loved it. The location is amazing, super close to the entrance of Lagos Covadonga and the Catedral. The staff was super nice.

The location was awesome for seeing the basilica and the lakes. The basilica was a 400 meter walking distance away. It is in the perfect location to take the bus to the lakes.

The hotel is very nice looking and the location close to the Santuary is also convenient. But then, this is also a bit far from Cangas de Onis if you need to go back and forward. The food at the hotel is delicious and the people were very friendly. This is a good place to stay one night, although we had two.

Lovely small family-run hotel in spectacularly scenic location a short walk from Covadonga’s Cueva Santa and Basilica. We arrived late at the end of a 6-day hiking trip and the hotelier was very gracious and helpful. Our favorite hotel during a week in Northern Span.
