Unique experience! Like living in a true castle. Our room was approached by 31 ancient stone steps winding around and upwards, so not suitable for less abled. Super huge apartment with spacious living room, coffee/ tea facilities, gifts of local biscuits, soap etc, also t.v. but we always keep away from that.
Big comfortable bed and huge bathroom with enormous walk in shower. Spotless and far reaching rural views. Also covered swimming pool which we didn’t use.
Serge, the proprietor, was an superb host in every way. We took advantage of the offer of a platter of local cheeses etc and local wine, served in the baronial hall on the evening of our arrival. The chateau is a distance from restaurants so on the second evening Serge kindly allowed us to use up food we had in our cool bag and the following morning he provided an early breakfast as we had an 8 am rendezvous at the local livestock market. We took up his suggestion of a visit to the Gorge du Tarn and were so pleased to have done so…..spectacular!
About 6-10km from Motorway in a very tranquil area.
About 6-10km from Motorway in a very tranquil area. Great for wildlife and nature. A daily occurrence are the 300 approx sheep that passes the front of the property going out to and coming in from pasture.
Downside - a lot of flies so it was not plausible to open the window, which led to another issue, no aircon or fan to cool you down.
It was very peaceful but eating together was not a plus for us as we needed some quiet time for breakfast. Breakfast was a little scarce, Home baked brioch and a few very hard bread + coffee or tea. What helped was the home made jams which were delicious! Very good value for money! For us ideal for travelling and needing a place to stay for night
