This seems a quiet and safe part of Calais, to stay before taking a ferry/tunnel to the UK.

Calais has always been a 'stopping off ' point'. But,it has improved over the years. The hard and restaurants are always a delight. The War museum is very interesting and worth a visit.
We are not beach people, but it looks nice.

We ate at Family Pub which is a friendly, open-all-day spot. Calais is small and a pedestrian-perfect town. We hit it on a very windy weekend. We stayed at the Lighthouse Inn from booking.com. Claire was wonderful. She had valuable insight on places to eat. Her apartment is ultra clean and modern with all the latest tech with massive big beds. Plan to return.

We didn't stay long enough to be able to give a decent review of Calais, just 48 hours. We did really enjoy it and will happily return. There were a large selection of restaurants to choose from, some large, slightly out of town hypermarches, and some boulangeries that we enjoyed. We enjoyed Le Bleriot Beach, even in February. We visited Dunkirk and even crossed the border into De Panne in Belgium. We discovered that Calais is most definitely a place to visit in its own right, not just for a night before a ferry or a tunnel crossing.

Calais as been revamped, and a lot of money spent on the beach area. Good restaurants!! Especially one called the MOUTON BLANC!! Simple French cooking and cheap. This place could be a great family holiday. Great beaches and nice walks to do. Your not that far from Paris or Brussels with easy access to trains that Serve both capitals. Yes overall good place.

Calais is seen by many as just a convenient stopover to take the ferry and not as a destination in its own right. It may not have aesthetic attraction of nearby Boulogne sur Mer but there are things to see and do. Take a wander and see the stunning Calais Town Hall and tower . There is the famous Rodin sculpture The Burghers of Calais which is very impressive and the shopping , there is quite a good choice for restaurants and bars. Plus, very underrated is the sandy beach.
It is the second time we have stayed there, we were travelling on the euro tunnel with 2 dogs. The hotel is about a 5 minute drive from the euro tunnel and they accept dogs which was ideal. They have a large car park on site, vending machines, coffee/hot chocolate machine and a microwave. We didn’t have the breakfast so can’t comment on that. The hotel is basic but has everything you need for the traveller. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are using as a base or travelling through Calais.
The beautiful period room , themed around Blerios with wonderful ethemera and art, and house had many attractive and original features and was functional and aesthetically pleasing. The hotel/B and B was very central and in one of the few attractive parts of Calais by the theatre. The hosts were first class and the recommendations and breakfast were marvellous. A great place to spend a night before an early morning crossing.
Plenty of parking on the premises, quick check in and out with friendly English speaking staff, the room had a few nice touches like the bathroom door being divided and hinged in two places so that there was enough room - very clever! Safety chain on the window. Extra piece to keep water inside the shower. Wouldn't normally see a hotel go to the trouble to put these little thngs in.
Virtually everything; great location, super value, superb breakfast
(automatic, orange juice making machine 🤗) and the assistance at the desk was excellent and much appreciated. Because traveling from Dover to Calais is such an easy way to go, I could easily imagine myself staying there again, and certainly will be recommending it to anyone going to Calais 100 out of 100. 💯
This was a grand and beautiful hotel, with huge airy rooms and elegant decor. I had an enormous and incredibly comfortable bed. The staff were lovely. A previous place had not gone to plan and I made this booking in Calais and went straight to the hotel. The breakfast was really lovely with huge choice in a chandeliered ballroom.
This is a gem of a hotel. Benoit, the owner is a great communicator & very welcoming. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking a quiet street and park. The room was nicely decorated but basic which was perfect for our overnight stay in Calais. All local amenities are within a short walk & Le Shuttle was a 15 minute drive.
The hot tub is amazing and the owner is very friendly. When i didnt know how to work something such as the hot tub he replys very fast. Probably best apartment in Calais. Lovely area. Polite people. Shopping centre very close. Food spots not area. Near the beach. Near activities, too much to explain! Great value for money
Stayed here for one night before an early ferry, the hotel was perfectly adequate and the location was actually really good right on the Calais sea front.
The room was ok and we didn't expect a small kitchenette in the room however there was no cooking utensils or pans so it was kind of pointless.
The price was good, and room was clean, 20 min walk to the centre of Calais. We didn't eat at the Hotel restaurant, so i cannot review the food. Instead we walked 20 minutes to a restaurant towards the big supermarket Auchan as it was a very nice sunny day.
Really unique guest house, lovely staff, was so nice to be somewhere unmistakably French, rather than a chain hotel where you really could be anywhere. Great location in central Calais.
Very nice historic hotel in downtown Calais. Easy walk around town and to the Calais Ville train station. Room basically as advertised in the photos showing on line.
