The Chateau des Charmes is a stunning mansion set in beautiful grounds. Our room was really special, very quiet spacious & restful. The bed was large & extremely comfortable. Our host & hostess were friendly, charming & a mine of information on things to do & see in the area. They kindly booked a table for us in a super restaurant called Mange et tais-toi in a nearby village - it is highly recommended. We had a really good night's sleep - the luxurious sheets deserve a special mention. Breakfast was absolutely delcious. Our hostess even made a fresh fruit salad for us! Our hosts mentioned that guests often arrive as clients but leave as friends & it certainly felt like that to us as we set off on our long drive home. . The Chateau des Charmes is highly recommended.

This is a private residence out of town shared by the owner with her guests. You are treated as one of the family rather than one of many anonymous clients in a hotel. This means you get a glimpse of the owners interests and passions which make the visit interesting. The property has a lovely garden with access to outside seats and table for al fresco picnic
On the evening I stayed the owner provided an impromptu plate of pasta, and drinks. Furthermore in the morning there was some toast and a coffee. All these extras were unannounced, spontaneous and essentially included in what is a very reasonable price. However other than a morning coffee this should not be assumed to always be the case but more a reflection of the owner Sarah’s spontaneity.

I liked how well maintained and taken care of the hotel was. every detail in the rooms had been thought of, such as plenty of hooks for the towels, a nice little desk, and the room was not large but very practical. I also really liked the location, I was on foot yet able to do everything: go for a jog near the river, shop in Fnac across the street and walk to town and restaurants very easily…. I also loved the mineral water at breakfast buffet. They didn’t cheap out and that was appreciated. Also the rooms open to the outside which I loved… I was able to open the door in the morning and breathe the fresh air and hear the rain.
The hotel offers a great place to stay while exploring the Beaujolais and Mâconnais regions, with their delightful villages, vineyards, wonderful scenery and rich cultural heritage.
